How was this even accepted as a legitimate "ripoff"? Sue the Kobanes for what? How are you NOT kidding with this? Who on earth is sitting around spending so much time thinking about Marky/Kobanes that they got upset enough to file this complaint?? LOL. Punks really need to find some meaning in life, at least some sort of hobby to occupy their time. Does the author of this even have any knowledge of the pop-punk genre? Have you heard the term "RAMONES-CORE pop punk" or heard ANY of the hundreds, if not thousands, of other bands paying homage to the founding fathers of punk through this style of music? Kobanes are keeping Ramones ALIVE, not ripping them off. And doing it in the right, classic way.... staying true to the style while maintaining their own unique sound. Marky is one of the kindest, most genuine and generous people I have ever known. He does so much to help DOZENS of bands in this scene, in and outside of Chicago, of any age and any level of experience. And he never, ever asks for anything in return. This is absolutely pathetic. Could someone please explain to me on what grounds a legal case could even be compiled toward Kobanes? Legitimate question. What a complete joke. For a REAL opinion on Kobanes and their contribution to the punk scene over the past decade, go to JAPAN, where they still worship Ramones is if this is the 1970s, AS THEY SHOULD. Unbelievable.

If I had a dollar for every time my band or I got some internet hate or slander. Just for the record: 1. My real is name is Mark. I've been called "Marky" my whole life. I started hating it around 9. But when I was 12 and discovered the Ramones, I didn't mind it as much. 2. I once posted a picture of Kody Lillington wearing our shirt saying "check this out!" Why not? The Lillingtons are one of my favorite bands, and it was an honor. Even if I gave to him. And the fact that he's standing next to Fat Mike makes it even cooler. I'm just a fan boy! 3. No s*** I rip off the Ramones. I am not trying to steel or make money of there music or pretending to be when I book shows. Every band I listen to rips off the Ramones. I've stated before that The Kobanes are more a of tribute to a time and genre when things were much better. I am not reinventing anything. Just writing songs I want to hear. 4. Stating 2 people were at our "Cairo" show....Unless you were there or a local you wouldn't know what "Cairo" is. To be honest that was with The Sheckies and one of the most fun shows we had in a long time. I would say there was about 30 people there, and I'm happy with that. I even have a video of the crowd and I roughing each other up. 5. I don't make my band members by Mosrite guitars. I own and play Hallmark guitars. I like bands that have a gimmick or matching gear, outfits, whatever. Johnny had a Mark 2. I play a Ventures model and so does the bassist (not a P bass). I fell in love with the look of these guitars from Ben Weasel in his Riverdales days. That's like saying anyone who plays a Fender is Jimi Hendrix rip off. 6. There is another Kobanes Facebook I can not get deleted or log into. I wouldn't want someone to think we don't respond to helping book shows or sell our own merch. It's sad people waste their time on negativity. If I really hate someone, they are dead to me and I forget about them. I'm 90% sure this is just another jealous ex band mate, who is too drunk, lazy, and stupid to do anything new on their own and keeps dwelling on the past. This "report" sounds like is was written by a 12 year old. I should just move on and be the bigger person, but I would rather share it because it just gives us more views and will have people checking us out. Sure it pisses me off a little. But that just adds more fuel to the fire. I've already peaked...opened up for my favorite bands, and made life long best friends. I don't need to explain if you get it. And thanks to those of you who do.
