I bought a replacement headphone jack for my iPod for $22.00 from Kokopelli Music through their website in which they unconditionally guarantee their products. I installed the item and it didn't work. It had the same defect that I was already experiencing and most iPod headphone jacks eventually get, namely that when the plug is inserted, audio only comes from one side of the earbuds. That leads me to think that they could be reselling parts.

I contacted the company via email and after numerous attempts they finally responded by asking me to send them $35 along with my iPod and if they determined the part was defective, they'd return my check. That is not totally unreasonable, but very impractical for me to send my $380 iPod off to them. If they had described that this was the process of their guarantee, I would not have purchased from them.

In regards to this slandering and non factual report I would like to start by saying that kokopelli music is a great company and I would refer them to anyone with an ipod problem. I have an ipod and I drove over top of it with my car and broke the screen(by accident) and was ready to waist a bunch of money on a new one. Then I found kokopelli music on the internet and they were extremely courteous and helpful. I ordered a new lcd screen for under $40.00, it came rapidly without problem. I recieved detailed colored, pictured instruction on how to install and all the tools I needed to do so.

I was able to install it hastily and without problem. You could say I was like a small child on christmas day within minutes after its arrival. You say you expierienced the same problem with the new product obviously its got to be your ipod. I don't understand your problem, they wanted to charge for a service fee and you complain. Before anyone tries giving such a proffesional and courteous company a bad name I suggest getting all the facts and stop expecting everything for free and without challenge. So my opinion on the matter is simply that if it was their fault then give them suggestions to prevent a future problem instead of trying to hurt their business in a country with a steadily weakening economy.

I think its hard enough as it is to keep a business going without slanderers like yourself trying to destroy them. I'll end on this, thank you kokopelli music for your great product, detailed instructions, and tools I needed to avoid purchasing a new and expensive ipod, I will be refering them to everyone I know that owns an ipod. Again thank you and have a great day I know I will while i'm listening to my ipod.

I Pod Screen Exchange Made easy

This is in response to KoKopelli music being a rip-off. It's Just NOT true.
I had ordered a new screen for my sons IPOD. He told me it was 2nd generation, so thats what I had ordered. The new screen arrived, I started the replacement process with the very detailed instructions from KoKopelli Music and found out it was a 1st gen IPod. I e-mailed KoKopelli and explained what had happened. Long story short, simple exchange, no extra shipping charges, and no they did not care I opened the package and even started to use the plastic installation tools. This is a class act of a business. Very helpful. Had the proper screen within days.

I have had the opportunity over the past several years to replace two video screens, the headphone jack and battery in my son's IPOD. Each time i have ordered parts from Kopelli Music. They provide a lifetime guarantee on their video screen, no questions asked. When i had to replace for the second time the video screen (my son stepped on his ipod) i forgot about the lifetime guarantee until after i had paid for the second screen. I sent Kopelli an e-mail asking about the guarantee and they immediately issued a refund for the cost of the screen. In fact they apologized for not catching the fact that i had previously ordered a video screen from them. I was very impressed with their customer service and personal approach to making sure that their customers are satisfied.

As for the actual replacement of the parts, i must admit that i was very apprehensive about opening up the back of the IPOD. However the instructions provided by Kopelli are very easy to follow and come with pictures showing what you need to do. I highly recommend Kopelli.

I sent my iPod in to Kokopelli and within a day of receiving it, they had emailed me what it would cost to fix and what the problem was. They put in a new clickwheel, and within a couple of days I had my iPod back. I thought the system was very efficient, smooth, and above all the work they did on the iPod was very high quality. I was satisfied that for a small price I was able to easily send my iPod somewhere to get it back in perfect working condition . . . all within a few days. I highly recommend this company . . . they're for real, and it's quite a good bargain.

I was baffled to read this ripoff report because my experience was so different with Kokopelli. I recently purchased an iPod LCD screen from Kokopelli and chose their do-it-yourself method. I was extremely impressed with how quick the item came to me, how clear their installation instructions were and how easy the new screen was to install. I now have a new LCD screen that works perfectly. I have recommended Kokopelli products and service to friends with replacement part needs and will continue to do so.

The service I received from Kokopelli Music was outstanding. I had concerns before sending my iPod to them and all were put to rest by clear, patient emails. I was notified when my iPod was received by KoKopelli and notified when it was sent out on return, which was just a day or two later. I was always encouraged to let them know if I had further questions or concerns.

The issue I had with the iPod was one that I had been told was not repairable and I had been advised to purchase another. I decided to make one more inquiry--to Kokopelli, based on the recommendation of a friend--and I'm so glad I did.

Long story short, I am delighted with the service from Kokopelli and have referred several other people for iPod repair. It's the combination of service and communcation updates that have put Kokopelli at the top of my list.

I purchased a replacement screen from Kokopelli, and they sent it quickly--especially considering that they had to ship it to me overseas, in Thailand--and with good instructions. It was a good price, and has worked perfectly since I installed it. The company's email communication was also friendly and courteous. I'm sorry that the original poster had a bad experience, but given my contact with this company I would definitely believe the owner when he says that it was just a miscommunication that they would be happy to correct.

So if you are a potential customer reading this, I would encourage you to consider all the responses here from people who had a positive enough experience that they bothered to take the time to defend the company, which as far as I can tell is a small one, working in good faith, and with a very good product and customer service..

Good Company and excellent

I got the Battery for my 20 GB Ipod a year ago. I ordered it on 05/30/07. I was amazed at how fast they sent it to me. The instruction on how to change to battery were very easy to follow and I was able to change it out in about 20 mins. The longest time was trying to get the front and back separated.

The company not only had the lowest prices on the Internet, there warranty was the best offered. There service and responsiveness to questions was fantastic. I have told friends and family about their products and services. The battery I bought for my IPOD was better then the original that came with it. They have a customer for life. Neither I nor my family or friends that have used Kokopelli in the past have ever had any problems with their service, warranty or communications.

I use ripoffreport.com as a source for making purchase choices and decisions. I feel like this report is not a fair or accurate depiction of this company and does not reflect my or my families and friends experience with them.

My IPOD got wet and the LCD needed to be replaced. It was going to cost me $150 to $200 to send it out to be repaired. I bought a replacement LCD and installed it myself, which in itself is a small miricle. The instructions were very clear and included step by step photos. I spent a totoal of about $45.00 and my IPOD was good as new! I've recommended this company to numerous friends and family, all of which have had a positive experience.

I had an outstanding experience with Kokopelli Music. They were fast, clear, and delivered just as promised. I thought my precious iPod was garbage, and their clear directions, great product, and encouragement helped me rescue it! Saved me $250!
I would purchase from them again in a heartbeat (although I hope I'm not so stupid as to shut my iPod in a car door again!)
I know you have to make up your own mind, but take my advice if you're willing, they're a great company.

Wanting more than is warranted

We have only praise for Kokopelli Music and plan to use them whenever needed in the future.

Kokopelli Music is clear in their directions regarding the products and services offered. The product we purchased from Kokopelli Music as well as the directions for installation were exact and easily understood (my career includes technical writing).

Kokopelli Music states that if it doesn't work you must send it to them to check for any errors you may have made, otherwise they could be giving away product. No offense, but stating this is a rip off is way off base as Kokopelli Music is willing to check it out and this fellow just wants his money back.

Someone that reluctant to send in their iPod (and I wasn't impressed that the iPod cost is mentioned, all shipments can be insured) wants too much special consideration. We accepted Kokopelli Music's requirement that if we couldn't install it correctly and it didn't work, we would send in our iPod. We installed ours and it works fine, as have many others, no doubt.

Their web site had illustrated color intructions on how to open the Nano and replace the screen. Their order screen was clear and easy to use. Since the Nano was a few years old I also ordered a replacement battery in addition to the new screen. They both arrived within a couple of days along with plastic tools that helped to pry open the Nano without damaging it. The printed instructions with color pictures were clear and very helpful. When I snapped it back together and saw that screen light up again it was pretty cool. It still is working fine and my thanks to Kokopelli.

Kokopelli allows customers the option of repairing their iPod themselves, like I did, or having them do the repairs. Since I like fixing things myself the first option was great for me. In the future if my iPod Touch needs repairs based on the excellent experience I had I would not hesitate to send it to them.

I am satisfied with kokopelli music

I bought an LCD screen replacement for my Ipod, tried to install the item and may have been able to complete the process but felt as if I might break the Ipod so I packed my Ipod and shipped it to the company... Within a week I had my old Ipod good as new and with all my music still intact... I am very satisfied with the product and service.

I have been a customer of this company for a while and I bought many products from them including an Ipod headphone jack.

Everything worked perfect and had really easy directions to both take apart my Ipod and replace the parts that I ordered.


All in all this is a great company that provides a really great service that save the consumer lots of money on both not having to deal with the over prices of Apple and not having to replace the total cost of a new Ipod.

I ordered a replacement LCD screen for my Ipod Nano from Kokopelli Music back in Nov. 07 and I had no issues with my order or the parts that I recived from this company.

Here is an e-mail that I sent to an employee of Kokopelli Music that helped me with my order.

I just wanted to drop a line to let you know that the Ipod Nano screen that I ordered from Kokopelli Music arrived two days after our phone conversation, the whole process of tearing the Ipod Nano down and replacing the screen took all of 15 minutes.

The tools provided with the new screen did the job of getting the device opened and the LCD looks fantastic, I had many reservations about ordering replacement parts for this unit from anyone but Apple but I am glad that I took the chance and went with Kokopelli Music, between the money I saved, the quality of the product and the Lifetime Warranty I can not express enough how happy I have been with the service you have provided to me.

100% Satisfied with Service

I was referred to Kokopelli by my sister who had used them to replace a battery in her ipod. I couldn't believe she just sent her precious ipod off in the mail. She said she got it back in a week. I was still hesitant so I ordered just the battery from them. I was unable to install it. Rather than break my expensive ipod I went ahead and sent the battery and my ipod to them as instructed on the website. Before I did I emailed them with a question and they replied within a few hours.

I insured the package and had all the music on my hard drive in case something went wrong. Guess what? Nothing did! It was an amazingly quick turnaround. In the same week I got it back in perfect condition! This was right around the holiday season and I still got quick service. It was packed carefully and I couldn't even tell it had been touched.

I have since recommended them to several friends, who have all been pleased with the service they received - screen replacements and batteries.

In this day and age of big corporations that don't care and provide a poor level of customer service it was an absolute pleasure to deal with them. I highly recommend Kokopelli Music for any of your ipod needs.

I purchased several parts from them in the past, and they were extremely helpful. Not only were the instructions I received with my LCD Screen and speaker jack easy to follow, but they provided me with a cheaper alternative to getting my Ipod fixed.

If I ever have a problem in the future with my Ipod or my wife's Ipod Touch, I will order from them again, and in the case of the Ipod touch, I will just pay the $30 bucks to have them do the work on it.

I received my parts rather quickly, and just overall extremely satisfied with the service and products.

I recommend using them to fix your Ipod, or get the parts and do it yourself, rather than paying Apple $150+ to fix it.

Hi Stephen, this is Jeff from Kokopelli Music. Sorry you had a less-than-great experience with us.

We do offer a no-questions-asked 30-day guarantee on everything we sell, replacement or refund, your choice. In addition, we offer a lifetime warranty on batteries and LCDs, replacing them for a nominal charge anytime you want, even after several years of use.

When someone contacts us with a problem like yours and says that they installed a part in their iPod and it doesn't work, we have found (through experience) that most customers would rather just have us fix the iPod for them for $35, rather than having us send them a replacement part for them to install again. Less work for the customer and less risk to their iPod. So that's why we offered to fix your iPod for you. We weren't trying to wiggle out of our guarantee... really.

If you had asked for a replacement headphone jack, we should have done what you asked. So I apologize if we misinterpreted your email request.

If it's not too late, please email me personally (jeff at kokopellimusic dot us), let me know your order number or date you purchased, and we'll give you a full refund.
