Kwik Kar Oil & Lube of DeSoto Scam to sell car repairs that are not needed DeSoto, Texas

On 11/19/09 I took my car to Kwik Kar Oil & Lube of DeSoto for an annual inspection.  I was told that my car would not pass because I needed a brake job, that my brake pads were worn out and they were scraping metal to metal.  I was told they could do the brake job for me.  I said no, that I had a warranty elsewhere.  I then took my car to Just Brakes and was told my brakes were in excellent condition with more than 50% of pad left and no repair was needed. On December 3, 2009 I returned to Kwik Kar.  I left my car there for an hour. When I got back, I was asked to step outside, he needed to talk to me.  I wondered why I had to go outside - why couldn't he tell me what was up inside?  But, I went outside with him anyway and he said my car did not pass inspection because it needed a brake job, but not to worry, they could take care of it for me.  I told him that I was there just a couple weeks earlier and heard the same story. I also told him that Just Brakes said there was nothing wrong with my brakes. At that point, he called out another mechanic and told him what I had said.  This second man went to get my car, but at that time I was furious and just told them I did not want them to touch my car and I wanted the keys.  At that point, I drove to another Kwik Kar in Cedar Hill. They are all independently owned, so the new place had nothing to do with the first. My car was in and out with a new inspection sticker within fifteen minutes of my arrival at the Cedar Hill location.  I then filed a report with The Better Business Bureau and also reported them to the State Inspection department. At the State office, I was told that they would definitely investigate and that this scam is very common at inspection stations - most especially when it is a woman.
