 I rented the property at (((Redacted))) prior to you and felt it necessary to warn you about my dealings with the landlord, Larry Hacker. I moved out of the property at the end of October and still have not received my security deposit back. After having moved out Larry informed me that he had spent my security deposit which is against the law.  Even still Larry apologized and communicated with me that as soon as he had a new tenant he would send me my security deposit. He has now promised on 3 occasions over the last couple months that the check was sent, but I have never received a cent of what he owes me. Larry comes off as a nice guy, but do not trust him.

Jonathan Braun is a liar !!!

Jonathan Braun is nothing but a fraud and a liar.   He not only ruined the new carpet that I had installed immediately before he moved in, he broke the walk in closet door, broke the shower doors, left holes in the walls, and left the property in deplorable condition.  The realtor who re-listed the property sent me e-mails of how bad a condition the property was in when Jonathan left.  The fireplace, in particular, looked like it had not been cleaned in years.  Apparently, Jonathan Braun is a slob and did not mind living that way, but he was expected to leave the apartment in move-in condition.   Cost of repairs and replacement was over $1500, which was more than his security deposit.  Yet Jonathan had the nerve to ask for his security deposit back.  In addition, I received fines from the condo association three times for his violating the rules.  

When he lost his job, I let him pay the rent late.   When the neighbors called me here in Floridacomplaining that there were different men going in and out of his apartment at all hours of the night, I defended him.   And not once, in the four years he was there, did I ever raise the rent or try to have him evicted despite his being late on the rent several times, and for whatever his late night 'extra-curricular' activities were with his late night visitors that were disturbing the neighbors.    Nothing more than sour grapes and a total lack of gratitude by Jonathan Braun.  So, for you landlords and property owners out there, beware of Jonathan Braun !

Larry is full of it

I apologize for my delayed response, but I was actually preparing for my case against Larry Hacker in small claims court for 6/3/2015. Well what a surprise! Larry did not show up. If what he says is true why would that be? Oh how I wish I had actually gotten a chance to present the evidence I compiled. 

I had photos that I had taken of the apartment the day I moved out showing it was not damaged. I had text messages from the listing realtor thanking me for leaving the apartment in wonderful shape. I even had months of text messages from Larry himself stating the apartment was in great shape as well as countless promises to send me my security deposit and the rent I overpaid (as he pointed out in text) just as soon as he had a new tenant.

If the apartment was damaged then how come I was never notified? I believe it is NJ law that a landlord must send a tenant an itemized list of any damages that are being deducted from the security deposit held in escrow. This does not surprise me though as Larry failed to prove he ever put the deposit into escrow at all.

If all of this were not evidence enough then how about the two other reports that were filed about Larry in the past for the same exact reasons? Links provided below.

I rented from Larry for 4 years and I never missed rent. I gave Larry well over a month’s notice before moving out and let him show the apartment while I still lived there. Once again these so called “damages” were never mentioned during that entire time.

The washing machine had to be replaced twice because he would only pay for cheap used appliances. When I moved in and the screen door was wrecked, I was the one that had to replace it. When I told him about the closet door in the bedroom being broken, I had to repair it because he was too cheap to buy a new one. I find his whole reply incredibly insulting as I was always more than flexible and happy to save him money on labor costs. He is just a cheap landlord and dishonest person. All in all he was lucky to have a tenant like me.

Oh guess what? I won my judgement yesterday. I guess the Burlington County Court agreed with me :)

Hopefully Karma will prevail!

P.S. Maybe it's time to start being honest with your tenants?

Jonathan Braun trashed the apartment but expects his deposit back

Jonathan Braun was a tenant of mine at 606 Woodhollow Drive in Marlton, NJ for 4 years. He moved out 2 weeks before the end of his lease and expected to not have to pay for the last two weeks of the month.  He completely ruined the carpet which cost me over $1200 to replace.  There were holes in the walls that he failed to patch, he cracked the shower doors and broke the door on the walk in closet.  Total cost of repairs necessary to prepare the apartment for the new tenant came to almost $1800.  Still, Jonathan Braun expected his security deposit back.   Jonathan Braun was the "tenant from hell" and I would recommend to anyone who rents to him to expect major damage to their property.
