July 2013 viewed a light blue 1964 Cadillac Coupe Deville on E bay which caught my eye. It was offered in a NO RESERVE Auction. The auto appeared Beautiful parked to the front of a large home. Within the body of the Offering of the auto, it specifically stated that the vehilce was a "Rust Free" vehicle. It also stated "Cold AC" and "No Known Problems". (I have the printouts to substantiate.) Yes, the display also emphasized that the auto should be reviewed in person,

however, I took the advertisement of the auto in good faith and telephoned the company in Florida to further confirm what it had stated. I was advised by a gentleman that the vehilce was everything the E bay profile stated. Bottom line, I won the auction and was very, very excited, anticipating the delivery of the 64 Coupe Deville. Upon arrival of the auto we were totally dissappointed in it's appearence. There were Rust "Bubbles" on the top of the drver's side fender, the lower quarter panel and was evident at the rear driver's side fender skirt.

The passegner side was not any better as rust was beginning to protrude/break through the paint. The vehicle would not start and the delivery driver stated that "they had trouble getting it started down there". After placing fuel into the carburator and "Jump" starting, the Cadillac engine "ROARED" to life. The rear muffler was rusted thru.  Entering the vehicle, the interior lighting did not function and the rear opera light/lens cover was missing.  And you guessed it, the AC was not cold, in fact, it was not functioning.

I immediately telephoned Classics by Lash and a nice lady listed to my complaints about the vehicle's misrepresentation on E Bay. In addition, I telephoned E bay to complain.  Subsequently a gentleman named "Walt" called me and could not have been nicer. He stated that they sell over 100 cars monthly and "every once in a while, one gets by us." I informed Walt that I would like to be reimbersed for the auto and at Lash's expense it should be returned to them. Walt stated that he would speak with Steve Lash and get back to me.  Several days passed and no call back, thus, I made the initiative and telephoned Walt.

He stated that Steve advised that No Refund would be provided, however, I could trade it for another auto at their business or, they could "relist" it. Of course we declined to choose another auto. The call was ended and no further calls were made to me from Lash or a representative thereof. Subsequently, I telephoned the business and was put thru to Amanda Lash, the daughter of Steve Lash.  She advisd that she  would handle the matter henceforth and that "Steve" had a friend in Maryland who would be reviewing the vehicle to determine it's condition.

Amanda advised she would telephone the Writer upon scheduling the "Maryland" representative to visit. NO CALL, Nothing. I called again after several days and Ms. Amanda advised that Steve had not yet spoken to the representative in Maryland. Again, No Call backs from Amanda. (NOTE: I took the Cadillac to two repretable  Auto Body Shops for an assecessment. Both locations, without knowledge that I had been to the other, gave estimates of $8,000.00 to $10,000 to media blast the entire body, replace/repair the rust and repaint.)

Finally, I telephoned Amanda Lash (I have specific dates and times of each contact documented) and emphasized to her all of the complaints on the internet regarding Classics By Lash. Her response was that  considering the volume of autos they sell, the complaints were negligable.

Now we are going into the beginning of October and NOTHING from Classics By Lash. As I was going to be leaving the country, out of frustration and in an effort to motivate some resolution, I stated to Ms. Amanda Lash that I was going to have to seek Legal Counsel in Florida for resoltion. Ms. Lash Laughed and was then silent. I asked her what her response was. Amanda Lash stated, "I am going to keep my mouth shut". The call was then terminated.

Yes, we all know the Cliche', "Buyer Beware", however, you take the statements and information in "Good Faith" that a company presents to you. Sad that E bay continues to permit this type of fraudulent advertisement, but then again, I don't have to shop E bay any longer.
