Ahhh. The friendly Wendy's sign after a long, delayed flight from Baltimore to Orlando was welcome, especially since it operated inside the "Landing Strip", also known as: LEEVISTA CHEVRON, 5928 BUTLER NATIONAL DRIVE, ORLANDO, FL 32822 US, (407) 888-4119, the first gas station as you leave MCO from the north exit of the airport. I could get a burger and fuel my truck at the same time while I waited for my wife's flight from Boston. (also delayed by thunderstorms)

Peculiar, though; the Wendy's sign is displayed along the roadside, but I don't see the ubiquitous gas price sign I would expect to see out there with it. Maybe it was there, but I didn't see it after looking several times.

Regardless, I pull up to the pumps, take the cap off and am about to select "87" when I see the price listed under the grade: $4.39.9!?!? ( both of the upper grades were $4.49.9. Guess with that kind of profit you can sell the upper grade for the same price as the middle grade and make out ok.) Am I seeing things, or did gas prices go up more than $1.50 since I left town a week ago? I recapped without pumping and left.

I decided to check and found that the next 3 stations within a mile of the "Landing stRIP" had 87 octane prices of $2.86, $2.87 and $2.88, all prominently displayed on their gas price signs outside the stations. After seeing these prices I went back to the Landing Strip to make sure I wasn't seeing things. I wasn't; and I still didn't see any roadside price signs displaying the $4.39.9 for regular gas. Maybe the Landing Strip thought a sign with that dollar amount would scare customers away. you think?

I'm pissed. I understand that the Landing Strip is in a great location and should not be blamed for a reasonable bump in their price, but these Chevron sponsored thieves are hoping unsuspecting customers who failed to notice that the gas prices were not displayed on a sign along the road will also ignore the prices under the grades on the pump and fuel up before they realize they're being ripped off!

Chevron Please tell me your roadside gas price sign was struck by lightning and knocked down, and that the strike also shifted the pump prices to these extrordinary figures. Shame on you! monitor your outlets!

Wendy's I didn't buy your burger either, and when I tried to report the gas price problem on your website, your customer electronic response site was "under construction"? Guess you're new at this whole customer service email thing. Dave would flip in his grave.

And sorry, Mickey. No Mouse ears for the kids; We put them in the gas tank.

owner reported a "zoning issue"

AUTHOR: Tom - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, September 17, 2007

About 6 months ago, one of the local TV stations ran a report on this gas station, and the insane price they charge. When they asked about why he did not have a sign, he said the city has a "zoning" issue with his business and will not allow him to put a sign up. This sounds very fishy, since Wendys has a sign. A lot of us who live in the area think this place is a rip off. Its the "last chance" to fill up before returning rental cars to 4 major renters. I also assume that anyone from over seas (where gas is $4+ a gallon) would think this is normal.
