I hired Lewis and Lin for a relatively simple IP dispute. They seemed quite reasonable and skilled at the outset. At later stages, however, I found them to be objectively incompetent and far more interested in prolonging the dispute, while giving me deliberately evasive answers about the litigation.

The Negatives

- Bill Padding: They list lots and lots of "conferences", "strategy meetings" in their bills. Even after all these "conferences" and "strategy sessions" they managed to screw my case up pretty bad. The bill padding was outrageous.

- Won't follow Client's instructions: Instead of follow the client, they really tried to prolong the dispute. If you have some strong points / arguments on your side, they won't take it out early on: instead, they'll drag the case on and on and give you evasive answers. They're more theoreticians than actual practicitioners.

- Tricky Answers: I asked David Lin about an estimate on the upper limit of fees. He didn't give me a straight answer but something like "maybe 100k more or possibly up to 350k" ....seems more like a misrepresenation than actual estimate

- Trying to scare client: They like to scare their clients about the "huge" "ramifications" of the lawsuit....even if you're the Defendant and located in a jurisidiction that doesn't easily enforce American judgements.
