I went to view these homes last year.  Brand new community and homes are still being built.  I went to view and speak to the Sales team on 3 different occasions before speaking to my mother about her purchasing one.  They speak of "Highly Energy Efficient" homes on their website and during their sales process.  I asked very specific questions about heat and cold coming through as well as keeping dust our.  They assured me that they were air and weather tight and that there would be no problems with them.  As I was moving my mother from a dirt road in Montana where she had to cover cardboard with foil to help with the heat coming in during the heat of the day, these were very important for her to not have to deal with ever again.  They, again, assured me that she would be completely taken care of in these aspects.

They lie.  Flat out.  The windows let in the cold and the heat.  When it is 26 outside, it is 28 on the inside pane of glass.   The wall next to the window 6 feet away is 52.  When the sun is on the windows, the temperature of the air outside can be 80 but the glass on the inside is 96 because of how much heat is being generated by the conduction of heat from the direct sun.  Further, the windows bow in when the winds kick up and they allow dust and dirt to come in.  Not just on the window frame, but on the sils, up the walls, on the floors, and on the drapes/curtains.  This area has 100 mile an hour winds sometimes and this is just from 25-30 mile an hour winds  When the 100+ mile and hour winds came up there was almost an inch of dirt on these surfaces.

I have since found out that my mother's neighbors are having the same type of problems and that LGI has done nothing but fight with all of us saying that the windows are fine and built to spec.  They are NOT! The SGHC is also higher than what their certifications say.

LGI refused to even tell us who it was that manufactured the windows and sliding doors.  We as a community, only found out because one of us happened to see a truck from the company making a delivery to one of the houses being built.  Only then would LGI get in touch with the manufacturer to have them come out and talk with us.  We have dealt with numerous people all the way up to people from Corporate, who say that they will get it taken care of because what they have come and witnessed is unacceptable.  They, needless to say, then cut off all contact or mysteriously, are no longer with the company.  Those same people have stated that this is a "Company wide issue" with the windows and sliding doors.  I can only guess that they are no longer around because they acknowledged that fact to us.

The V.P. of Construction is a total jerk and made the comment that "We build the houses to spec, not the expectations of the buyers".  If this was true, then they wouldn't be lying during the home buying process, to include the walk through, about the quality of their homes and the "Energy efficiency" of all of the products used in the construction of them.

The latest word is that LGI will not be dealing with anything about the windows. They have deleted all evidence of claims made on their website.  They are saying we have to deal directly with the window manufacturer (whom we did not purchase from) and they meet the specs set out.  They don't.  LGI has even removed items from the warranty website that are supposed to be covered under warranty and have nothing to do with the windows.

The window manufacturer has given us proof (to cover their own backsides) of what the ratings are on my mother's windows and doors and the don't meet the standards or the certifications from LGI.  The website for the window manufacturer speaks of being weather and air tight.  Let me tell you, they are far from it.

LGI is a shady home builder that will screw you every chance they get.  They will tell you that you have a full warranty and they will not stand by that.  They will lie during the home buying process and will lie right to your face about getting things fixed.

BEWARE!!! This is not a builder that you should deal with.  They committ fraud and will depend on the fact that they have deep pockets and you don't.  They are relying on the fact that you spend a large amount of money for a home and can't afford to hire a lawyer to get the issues resolved.  They will not stand by you and will not fix the problems you have.
