Hillsboro Locksmith, Oregon, Locksmith in Hillsboro, Oregon

There is NO business in Oregon with a business name of "Hillsboro Locksmith".

95% of the listings on Google, Bing, and Yahoo are Phony Locksmiths, Unlicensed Locksmiths. Yes, this is TRUE! Check it out for yourself. Goto their web site, call the number off their web site and ask them for the total price to unlock your car. They will probably come back with something like this, "It's a $15 charge to come out there and the driver will evaluate how much it will cost when he gets there". This is after you told them what type of car you have. When they do finally arrive, maybe after an hour or so, they will then tell you that it will cost about $100 to $150. Don't use them! They are ripping you off! Just keep calling around and you will find a real locksmith.

Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB) needs to revamp their NEW "Locksmith Law" because it's NOT WORKING!

1) The CCB enforcement officers needs to set up more sting operations for locksmiths at lease once a month until they slowing go away.

2) The CCB needs to add better enforcement for collecting the fines. I see on their web site (CCB). That many unlicensed locksmiths have not paid their fines and a few months later still advertising that they can rekey locks for homes and businesses.

3) In the revamp Oregon Locksmith Law they should add that anyone who is acting and getting paid as a locksmith to open Vehicles, Homes, or Businesses should have a Oregon Locksmith Certification and the Business Name being used should be licensed with the State of Oregon. There is no law like this now. Anyone in Oregon can open a Vehicle and get paid for it without a locksmith license. This is why you see so, so, so many locksmith listings on Google, Yahoo, and Bing.

Just think how many thousands of dollars Oregon is losing in not collecting fines as well as not setting up more stings to catch more unlicensed locksmiths in Oregon.

Just think if every locksmith listing in Oregon (in the Yellow Pages or Online) was a real locksmith. Oregon could bring in about $192,500 in revenue every two years (500 X ($325 + $60) (CCB Lic and Locksmith Cert Lic every two years). And Oregon is wondering why they don't have any money to fund projects here? This is one good reason why we need to change the New Oregon Locksmith Law.

For example: I found on CCB's web site that these unlicensed locksmiths was fine:
On 7/31/2007 - $5,839.45 (Inactive - Certified Uncollectable)
On 5/4/2012 - $600.00 (Pending D/P - Appeal Review)
On 5/7/2012 - $1,003.45 (Active)

As of today, they have not paid their fines. I think 1, 3, or 7 days in Jail should be the right thing to do if no arrangements were made to pay the fine. And then if they still could not make arrangements for paying the past fines then more jail time. And with all this jail time they will not be able to get a Locksmith license.
 -------------------------------------------------

DON'T LET THE PHONY LOCKSMITHS COME AND REKEY YOUR HOUSE! I have heard stories that they might make a key for themselves and come back later and rob you. Also, they will charge you 80% to 100% more then a licensed Locksmith.
 -------------------------------------------------

In the State of Oregon, EVERY LOCKSMITH that rekeys locks for a building of some type, Home, Business, etc., has to have a "Active" CCB license by the State of Oregon's Locksmith Law.

Go here to see if the locksmith that you want to use as a CCB License:

Oregon Construction Contractor License Search

https://ccbed.ccb.state.or.us/ccb_frames/consumer_info/ccb_index.htm

See if it reads, "Never Been Licensed - CCB ID Only" or "Not Active - Expired".
