In the past 4 months I have received a number of parking violations that amount to a grand total of 740+ dollars. These 10 tickets are some ligitimate but I believe others are not.

Most importantly we NEVER received notifications regarding overdue state of the citations (FOR ANY OF THESE TICKETS). It is an impossibility to not have seen these large amount of notifications in our mail box.

More interesting is that my brother likewise received in the same block radius a large number of tickets and ultimately had his vehicle booted and penalized to the amount of almost $1000.00 dollars. I believe in fair play and this seems to me, that the city is engaging in raketeering. With hired enforcers running around.

What money our small business is making is going up in smoke with the constant harrassment through ticketing we are enduring from meter maids. I have to admit that if vultures among humanity exist it is them.

It's no wonder that there is such a marked hatred of the species.

Search for "Parking".

AUTHOR: Patrick - (U.S.A.)

Tim,

Put the word "parking" in the search field and read what the goons (or Donkeys as Richard in Mission Hills calls them) of the LAPVB are really up to.

The fines are high because they have to be. And, possibly, because politicians pandering to conservative voters reduced taxes in certain areas - I understand your anger, but...

I gauruntee you that somewhere on those many tickets was your notification that, if the tickets were paid late, that there would be extra fines.

It sounds like you and your brother have decided that the law should not apply to you and that you should be able to freely violate parking ordinances.

If you feel that the parking restrictions are interfering with your business, take it up with the appropriate agency and see if you can get them changed or get a special permit. Otherwise, you knowingly break the law, you're going to pay the price.

As for the exhorbitant fines, think about this: if the cost of paying a parking fine was not significantly higher than the cost of legitimate parking, nobody would pay any attention to the parking restrictions because it would be better for them to pay the fines than to deal with legitimate parking. The fines are high because they have to be. And, possibly, because politicians pandering to conservative voters reduced taxes in certain areas and had to compensate for the lost revenue somehow.
