In June 2008 I was sold a dishwasher at a Lowe's store at the price to qualify for free installation, by a Lowe's appliance employee in King County Washington. Two weeks after I mailed in my rebate I received a letter stating my purchase amount didn't qualify for the rebate, so I received nothing. So this complaint is about an employee who didn't understand their installation rebate promotion or was driven by sales comission, leaving me feeling taken advantage and deceived by Lowe's friendly but incompetent employees. The appliance installation was botched by the contract installers who bumped off the motor wire and left without testing the machine. It took 10 days and multiple phone calls to resolve the issue. It began with the installers forgetting to call me for a time to install, so I called them. Repeatedly during the appliance troubleshooting, Lowe's appliance employees, managers and other employees said they'd call me back and didn't. When I spoke to Lowe's employees, many had no ability to problem solve, so I offered them solutions. I will not purchase a high value item at Lowe's again because I can not trust they will do the right thing in representing goodwill toward their customers. The company reported $48,283. million in sales as of January 2008. The Lowe's CEO,COO and CFO earn $950,000, $770,000 and $480,000 respectfully and yet they will cheat a customer out of a $100. installation rebate. Although I complained about customer service, the core issue is corporate greed at the expense of American consumers. The Lowe's board of directors is a who's-who of retail executives, and along with their major stakholders, these few demand high profits and as investors demand more, Lowe's Corporate will do whatever it takes to deliver. So I appeal to every consumer, no matter what company, if you feel taken advantage of, hold them accoutable by not using their services. Then maybe when profits are impacted, they will listen and behave ethically in business.
