I am writing this report on behalf of my mother, a very nice and overly trusting elderly person, who resides alone and who lives on a modest retirement income that she earned while raising 6 children on her own.

In DEC 2013, my mother decided to replace the windows in her home, and a neighbor who had recently undergone the same renovation, recommended Macore Construction. Two Macore salespeople met with my mother and sold her on a "discounted" price of $8,775 for 9 windows.  Unfortunately, she had already signed the contract when I found out about the quoted price, and the workers showed up very soon to perform the work. There were 6 workers and the job required about 4 hours to complete.

When the workers did show up, my mother noticed that the windows they brought were not the exact ones she ordered, in that they did not have the grids she liked.  The workers installed them anyway and my mother felt pressured to simply accept it. When she did complain a day later, the salesperson, "Oshri", begrudgingly agreed to knock a whopping $300 (or 3%) off the entire $9,000 bill.

My mother called me and expressed some buyer's remorse and concern about the pressure she was feeling to have the work done right away, so I told her not to deal with Macore anyore until I could do some research on the conmpany.  Later that evening, my mother told me that Oshri and his assistant "Asher" (NFI) returned to her home and convinced her that she needed all kinds of additional work on her house.  They convinced my mother that the normal cost for such repairs would normally exceed $20,000, but that they would do it for just $13,127!  Luckily I had enough time to call Oshri and put a stop to that work immediately.

My other and I then noticed that Macore had obtained the windows that they installed on her home from a company that was located just a mile away from my mother's home, so I paid them a visit and told them how much Macore had charged for the installation of the 9 windows.  They were shocked, and provided me with a company flier that indicated they would have installed any 10 of the very same windows for just $2,950, which included installation costs. They agreed that Macore had severely inflated the costs they charged my mother by $5,000 to $6,000. I called Oshri and told him to stay away from my mother, and I started looking into Macore further, being convinced that they made a living preying on elderly clients.

I found the following: The contract provided by Macore reflected "Oshri A.", but not his actual last name. The business card they gave my mother reflected no persons' names on it, but simply the business name, phone and fax numbers, a business license # of 633907, and an address located at 9018 Balboa Blvd., #566, Northridge, CA 91325. The address in Northridge turned out to be a P.O. Box located at a UPS Store in a strip mall.  The business license came back to Bijan Lavi's personal residence located at 22946 Runnymede Street, West Hills, CA 91307. After some further research, I identified Oshri A. to be "Oshri Azoulay" of Encino, CA, connected to Ashley Lavi (male & probable relative of Bijan Lavi), and Leeor Peretz, a sirname appearing in other complaints about Macore.

I beleive Macore, and the other companies affiliated with these people, operate like predators, seeking out unsuspecting elderly victims, and conducting business in a way that is void of integrity or conscience.  Please beware.

Resolution - FEB 2014

AUTHOR: Belshazzer - ()

POSTED: Friday, February 14, 2014

After filing this report about Macore Construction in JAN 2014, I am happy to report that the matter has been successfully resolved.  The company offered to significantly reduce the cost of my mother's window replacement, and did so immediately.  I am pleased with the outcome, and with the company's responsiveness.  My mother feels much better about the entire situation.  Ashri Azoulay actually met with my mother in person and was very gracious about the whole thing.  Many thanks for helping the matriarch of our family feel a little bit better about the world we live in.
