I have done about 12 merchandising jobs for Market Force.  The pay is low, but if the hours were okay and it was within 15 miles, I would take a job.  I auto-assigned for two of the jobs that were monthly maintenance jobs I did in January.  The first monthly maintenance jobs were capped at 3.75 hours, and these were to be done every month for the same pay and hours.  Like a contract.
Well, when I looked at my auto assignments for February, they were the exact same jobs except they dropped the 3.75 hours to 2.75 hours to do the same job.  I emailed them and was told they can't guarantee the jobs will be the same, but when I signed up for the auto-assign it said it would be the same pay.  Mind you, these jobs have already been scheduled and accepted.  These people went back into the jobs and dropped the hours down even more to 2.5 hours after it had been assigned.  I called them today and the winch basically hung up on me when I told her I would not do the jobs for that.
Oh yeah, that $2 for 15 minute deal on their work orders - it don't happen.  You will not get paid if you go over your capped hours.

Do not waste your time with this company.  I kept wondering why there were so many jobs open in my area.  Well, I know why now.  I'm unsubscribing to that sorry company as soon as I finish this report.

Re: complaint against Marketforce; merchandising

AUTHOR: Jan - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, April 07, 2016

In 2012 I saw a statement that someone complaining about the company said the rebuttal person must not have worked for Marketforce long enough.  The rebuttal person mentioned since 2004.  That seems long enough to me.

In fact, I am another who has been envolved with Marketforce as an independent contractor as well.  My first job was in 2004.  Regularly I have been working for them since then, and more readily after I got in tune with the company and how it worked.

I have had multiple permanent merchandising assignments with the company that always paid as the assignment said it would.  So I dispute the complaints report.

I have also done mystery shopping and theatre checks and installs.  Some of the installs took longer than projected.  Some I have been paid for, some not.  They do request that you call for permission to stay longer than the projected time.  Most not paid for that took longer was when I hadn't called for permission.

Some of the work was detailed, but all was manageable.

Marketforce did sell the merchandising portion of the company a few years ago.  I do still receive assignmens regularly to a permanent theatre and other local theatres as well.

I have found Marketforce a very reputtable company.

Sincerely,

Jan

INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR

AUTHOR: deevine - ()

POSTED: Saturday, March 23, 2013

i am a 61 yr old female independent contractor signed to many companies. the only company that has paid my bills was certified/market force. i have been with market force when there was no certified. i did mystery shopping assignments. work was plentiful and i was paid timely. then there came certified. work increased and the pay was good.  when i got the hang of merchandising and ms, i figured out how to get the best pay and to watch for assignments that had expired. i could ask my price and get it most times. but when they call ME, i could get as much as $30 and that has happened quite a bit bc they know they can depend on me. i work for myself but i work w/certified. i enjoy the merchandising more, theater installs, dvd displays.

i have other companies that i do site inspections that pay over $20 plus travel up to 50 miles. i have made a good part time income utilizing these companies and best of all, i take what i want and if i don't want to work, i don't. my husband is retired so i'm just working to stay busy.

however, there has only been one incident that certified did not pay me but they have made mistakes in accounting that i've gotten paid for jobs i never did or gotten paid twice for them so hey, i made out in the end. i have been w/them for over 10 yrs. i can stop and go and stop and go. my history with them is great. they are honest and only human and make mistakes. move on. stop wasting your time being angry and saying bad things about them. in the long run, u will get stressed out, be unhappy and they will still go on.

be productive. life is too short for all the drama over a few dollars. u chose to work w/them so unchoose to work w/them and move on. that's all i have 2 say about that. be blessed and truly have a nice day!

Finally, someone that knows the truth

AUTHOR: TMW - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, November 15, 2012

I am so glad someone finally posted the correct information.  As far as negotiating a price with Market Force, I tried several times with no success.  These people probably work out of there house, as most do, and don't care if you make a living or not.  I work for 2 great companies now and they pay me for my time and are glad to have me.  If Market Force is working out for you Great!  Give it some, then you also will know the truth about this sorry company.

Independent Contractors

AUTHOR: BTP - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, November 04, 2012

Market Force contracts with us per job and is not our employer, first off. I have worked with the company since 2004, and have always been able to resolve problems like the poster had.

I have disputed pay and been paid more for a job, if I had documentation that I called in for extra time, as clearly stated in the paperwork. I have gone as far as 100 miles one way on jobs that are overdue for them, and got paid what I was promised.

You haven't worked for Market Force long I bet

AUTHOR: TMW - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, October 22, 2012

You filed a rebuttal to my report on Market Force.  I did not do mystery shopping for Market Force.  I did merchandising jobs, which, is very different from mystery shopping.  You said there were a lot of people who claim more hours than actually worked on certain jobs.  What about the jobs that take longer than the estimated time?  Okay, you are supposed to call in and tell them the job is going to take longer than Market Force estimated and need more time.  They are NOT going to be nice to you and ask "Okay, how much time do you need?"  They are going to be very rude and talk to you like you're an idiot.  I am 46 years old and have 8 years retail experience under my belt.  I have been a Department Manager and a Supervisor at Wal-Mart.  My dog could estimate a job better than these idiots.  Apparently, you have not been doing this very long or you would know that EVERYBODY takes ALL hours quoted on a job.  "EVERYBODY".  If you're not taking all your quoted hours, you are the one being ripped off.  Add up the gas, oil, maintenance, drive time, etc. that it takes just to get to the job and you will see why EVERYBODY claims all time quoted.  Market Force knows this, that's why the cheap bastards quote jobs so low.  You need to get with the program or you ain't gonna make much doing this type of work.  Claim all the hours or you are screwing yourself...believe me.

I agree that that complaint is not accurate!

AUTHOR: Artsyshirley - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, October 21, 2012

I have been working for them for since 2009 and have had no problems with them. They have called me with a raise in pay offer to perform assigments that had not been done by other reps.

I was just asked last week to do a store out of my area for $25.00 for the first hour and 2.50 for every 15 mins extra. I usually work for one or more other merchandising or mysteryshopping companies with shops in ther same town or near that store I am assign to go to so I can make my travel worth my visit or do a gas station shop to get paid back for the gas I spent. This is one way to compensate for the money spent on the milage. Also, Marketforce does let one ask their price to do a shop, this is your chance to compensate for your gas also.

Yes, some shops might seem low, but 8.00 dollars for the first hour for a local shop is alot more than any local job in my town I never hot that much an hour for working for a fast food place. I ought to know, for I used to work at one that cut my hours down from 7hours a day to 1 and  half a day! I got 5.25 an hour in year 2000! It was not worth my time and gas to go out there just to work that time. I still had to pay my ride thesame as I paid when I worked 7 hours. So, I do'nt complain about marketforce.

I will say this, Merchandising assignment pay alot better than mysteryshop assignments. But most mystershopping companie's starting pay is low, but can move up higher as the week go by. I did one with company years ago wher I had to by a dinner at  a fasat food place and get repaid for what I spent. I do these for trendsorce and others taht pay up to 25.00- 50.00 for a mysteryshop. So, just look around, don't be angery for a company because their pay is not what you expect, just choose what you want to do for the price you like. It's you choice as to what you want to spend your time and gas on etc. on.

Market Force Not Professional

AUTHOR: Petsphoto - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, December 18, 2011

I recently signed up to work for Market Force. I have been a mystery shopper for several years and have always been paid on all my shops with other companies and received high marks for my reports.

After I applied and was accepted to Market Force, I took one of their certification tests, on which I received 100%.  I then began looking for potential jobs.  Most were out of the area, so I kept looking for a couple days. On the third day, I noticed potential shops were no longer available to me. I then asked HR about it. I got a very generic reply stating I had been removed as a shopper with them.

I would like to know what has happened to my SS#, etc.. they have collected? I plan to file a grievance with the attorney general and the MSPA. Not just for my minor incident, but because I believe something more is happening there and the company needs closer scrutiny of their practices.  It is obvious they have full-time trolls on the Internet to negate people's claims.

I recommend that you apply to and work for companies other than Market Force.

Not accurate

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 08, 2011

first off i would like to say the pay as you stated is the same most jobs are 8 dollars an hour thats minimum wage.  and no the pay doesn't change it was the hours that changed. there were too many people that would go do a job that only took half hour and claim over 3 hours so they lowered the cap. Now me as an employee I can say that i like working with them.  I have my choice of job i don't have to take a job if i don't want to.  I even get calls from that asking if i could go do this that or the other job and they will even pay me more some times they will ask me what it would take in pay for me to accept the job you would be surprised how much you can ask for and still get assigned the job.  My favorite jobs are the theater jobs. nothing like getting paid to see a movie etc.
