A good friend of mine recieved a letter in the mail today with a check for almost 4,000 dollars. He brought this to my attention and showed me all of the easy steps that he had to do in order to recieve the money, those of which included sending another "representative" 3,200 dollars, spending $200 at Wal-Mart or The Home Depo, or staying a full night at the Best Western hotel chain or another hotel, I don't remember the exact name.
Rather weary of this, I told him we should check it out before jumping to conclusions, after all, who wouldn't love to get paid to shop and stay at a hotel? It sounded too good to be true. It certianly didn't take long for us to realize it was a scam. The letter, that was fully endorsed and included a check for $3,988.00; complete with an account number, and routing number was from a company in Texas, however the envelope and stamp were sent from Canada, and one of the companys in the letter were located in Kansas.
We called the number included in the letter, we share a joint account, and she informed us to deposit the letter in our account and call her once it clears; I was very skeptcal of this. We haven't made any actions on this, however, we have contacted our lawyer and we're going to have him look into it.
If you recieve this letter, dis-regard it, don't let them get you like they've almost got so many other people. :)

There is no quick cure for stupidity. There is no recourse for you. You're out the money. Just look at it like you paid $500 to learn how not to be ripped off.

THE CHECK IS THE BIGGEST RED FLAG WITH THIS SCAM

AUTHOR: Laurie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 04, 2008

No business will send a check for that amount to just anyone with the hopes that the person receiving it will do as instructed and not just pocket the money.

Mystery Shopping is a legitimate way to earn money - however you have to be affiliated with a legitimate Mystery Shopping service apply for jobs and get hired before they send you checks and they are never for several thousand dollars.

There are a lot of scam shopper services - so you have to do the research to find the legitimate ones. Its people who are not willing to do any research that allow themselves to be scammed by this.
