Masonite Under brand Royal Mahogany Ripoff sold prefinished door through Home Depot Finish did not last two years Lawrenceville Georgia

Paid $3,000 for a prefinished Royal Mahogany American Oak entrance door through The Home Depot, who installed it. The Masonite/Royal Mahogony brochure showed a "5 Year Limited Warrenty"

Finish did not last two years. On filing a claim, with photo, was told, by e-mail: "The photo shows that the unit has not been properly maintained. Damage caused by failure to maintain the finish, any noticeable deterioration in the finish shall void the warranty. this applies to a factory or field finish. At this time I will have to deny your claim."

There was no warning that the factory finish should be "maintained" or that the factory finish should be supplemented upon installation to last a mere two years.

Home Depot felt bad enough to offer to pay half the $350 cost to refinish this Masonite product, even though it was a factory, not dealer warranty.
