Jerry leblanch, Maverick Construction
Jerry Leblanc of Maverick Construction was the General Contractor stealing money from my 83, 85 year old parrents. Mom and dad we put out by hurricane rita and are now living in a fema trailer,there house was totaly destroyed and regretfull had no insurance. Jerr had approached them on the street buy there house and gave them his card, my dad described him as a frendly fellow and his uncle lived down the road, and he dose. I had asked my dad to hold off with any building at the time, both mom and dad were confused and still dazed with all the massiave destruction it was over welming even for me much less my elderly parents. Dad havind fought in 3 different wars felt even at 85 he could fight this one as well. What they dident know at the time was the CROOK HE was about to meet..
They gave him 10K up front to pay sub-contractors and surveyers and for blue prints we never got. From there first draw on there new home construction. Dad had paid out 35K to jerry it was 4 months before the first stick was put in the ground. In the next 5 months that followed We had every sub contractors come to us stating they can not continue due to not getting paid. My dad explained to them that he gave the money to Jerry. The contractor that brought the dirt had to find Jerry and have Jerry meet him at the bank to get paid. The drywall contractors had to have the police show up at house before he paid them. My dad had at that time had also given Jerry $1400 for a surveyor, when the man came back my dad paid him at jerrys request this money jerry said had pay back and never did. There original agreement for this house was 85K the mock up list Jerry gave to my dad after the construction had begun showed 95K for this house an as of 1/11/2010 dad has paid this guy $117+K and the house is still not finshed..My dad told Jerry he was not going to give him any more money he was done. Jerry has stopped all work as of now.
This story is not done yet Jerry has said he will release the house free from any leans if we pay him $4900 for what he says is owed..my brother and I are trying to raise the money and get this guy out of our lives..
This guy is a crook tell everybody you know the lesson here is DO YOUR HOME WORK BRFORE YOU HIRE ANY CONSTRUCTION WORK.
He live in willis tx and works mostly in south east texas be warrened !!!!

In looking at the facts now in the light of day and not as upset as days before I feel I need to go back to my original report and apologize for a number of miss statements I made with 2nd hand information...
I will admit I do not know much about construction contracts, I personally would not have agreed to a cost plus agreement, I cant say if my parents knew either I think better communication on this part would of helped all parties..
To clearly some of my missed points, the dirt hualer did not have to meet jerry at the bank and was paid, and as I learned the next day all but 1 vendor had been paid and Jerry and that contractor were working on that issue..Also in looking at the add ons my parents added was part of the reason for the aditoinal price increase I was unaware of when I was writing my essay...The reason for the long delay was there was a drainage easement Jerry took upon himself to take care of... the other information I found was Jerry had been recommended by a neighbor had done work for and it was not just a chance meeting on the street as I had previously said.
With the help of family members and myself Jerry is working with us to come to a fair resolution and we can finish my parents house...
My lesson here is I need to get the facts first good advice for any body and not read too much of the junk on web sights. And like my mom always said THINK before you speak...............
