It seems to me that the Mayor and some leftwinged friends of his have hit upon a new way of discrediting people or potentional political opponents, which is the GoogleSmear. It is an easy maneuver for someone like the Mayor, who has extremely wealthy backers, the political machine, to set up a web forum or invest in advertising for a social media online site such as PATCH that has a high profile and is indexed in google news. Then he just commissions persons to write up lies about people (leavened with innuendo and out-of-context quotes). Anyone googling will likely come upon the smear profiles, and they can be passed around to journalists and politicians as though they were actual information.

Imagine the amount of money invested into advertising for AOL, PATCH, GOOGLE and the Journalist.  Bribes, kickbacks and job promotions to other areas outside the state in exchange for writing these stories.  It's simply criminal.  It's organized crime in the making.
