We began two [2] Christian Meetup groups that were very well received.  Meetup sent a message saying our [welcome] messages were too generic. So, we changed them. We then got a message saying our [paid] account was suspended and then terminated. This was pretty surprising to us in light of the fact that Meetup was simultaneously SOLICITING us to purchased their 'Pro' version because our groups were growing very quickly. One of our members was in email contact with a Meetup rep who said, "Just have them write us to fix this issue. "We did: and the message was NOT ALLOWED to be RECEIVED because Meetup had cancelled us and wasn't accepting messages from the email account associated with the Meetup groups. You can't contact them with an email address that isn't associated with an account, either. This is also very frustrating because Meetup LEFT OUR ACCOUNT INFORMATION ONLINE so it would appear to subscribers that the groups had been ABANDONED by us! This can only have a negative influence on peoples' opinions of the organizer because there is no means of communicating with members unless they utilize other methods of contacting us -- a far cry from being able to use the Meetup platform for communications. I'm going to refer this matter on to our credit card provider for our monies back and our attorneys to see what remedies might be available because from what I'm reading online, this is not an unusual complaint where Meetup is concerned. It is very unprofessional for a company the size of Meetup [OWNED BY EBAY] to discredit their own, paying subscribers by dropping groups and leaving the members to decipher the reason for themselves. I will be following up on this matter and would like to hear from others who have been treated similarly by the administrators at Meetup. This will make for an interesting story and, as a consumer reporter, perhaps a better outcome for those who have utilized Meetup only to find themselves [and many hours of work] arbitrarily destroyed by a company that seems to have no regard for ethics or professionalism.
