I spoke to this bank also in december.. about the loss of my family member and having to make a payment in february

as I could not make this payment which was for minimum amount in january of 35.00

  and the gal at merrick said they would as a one time courtesy and my payments always on time and early,

     she would make a note on my account and wave the fees and note I would be making a payments as I always do beginning of the month in February..

 then I see today on line, a huge amount.. on my bill instead of the amount I owe plus a min payment I am missing for january?

they have tacked on over 135.00 more.. saying we did wave the small late fee. but there is still the january payment?

I said look at the amount from dec.. and jan I do not owe more than a min payment for jan or future monthgs..

not 146.00 the gut at merrick says well

once its late there are other fees plus the monthly amount.. I said it looks like I am being charged 4 times the amount I owe?

he said no.. the late fee was waived.. and the other is for.. and he could not make me see how he

and merrick bank changed the amount due.. to what they want me to pay now..

so I said well I will cut up this card.. and make the payments I can make

and write this off... no mnore merrick bank and their hidden fees.. thats 2 banks now with fees that 

try and swallow a person like a sink hole stay away from the easy credit

and easy to get card here..

2 payments behind, now come the calls

I have always been earl paying on my bills.. and of course they were glad as I was too.. now since 

   family member passing, and me looking for a new job

come the calls.. they at merrick have no email to chat with them

so I called  and will be making a payment in march.. gotta do what I can as with most with what I have..

  they called me at home

saying they are a place of business.. not identifying themselves at all.. so then I call them back

speak to a nice guy there, who says well because its delinquent?  they have to

let credit people know.. well they all know money is on the way.. but trying to get caught up?

well I said I will be taking care of this by making

whatever monthly payment I can

and when I can, and have anything extra? I will pay this all off and cut up card..

  yes they saw me coming.. but I did not see family stuff coming.. and sure now I know

to do more research before getting a card.. reading the fine print..

  I did not think they would ever begin a barage of calls to home, where I am not in charge of aging alzeimers family member, and digging myself out of debt once and for all..

imagine? not ever missing a payment? and making payments early for over a year.. missing 2 payments telling them in advance? and still the calls and they do not listen or care

if you ask them not to call.. that you will be taking care of it all..

wished I never would have gotten on board with merrick.. cannot wait to be out of card and business with them

and  will never make these sort of mistakes again.. thanks but no thanks

not now or ever been a deadbeat

I sent all the merrick bank stuff.. because  losing my brother motorcycle accident has not been easy..

working in dec with merrick about making one,

not alot..

making one payment in my history with them in feb instead of jan.. feb..

 we were was told no late fees, by merrick

they understood and said as a courtesy, since I am always early on my payments by weeks, and always on time

they would wave a late fee.

and now I see they have  not and have added other fees which they could not explain on my bill..

and I have always been on time..

I feel like I was just letting peole know, that sometimes, its easy to get in over your head..

and when you have a family emergency, unexpected, unprepared a funeral to attend a flight to catch, and peole to grieve with..

this was the last thing on my mind..

and they knew this payment. this one only payment was going to be laste by 3 weeks.. 

which they called late after 3 days.. sorry but this is not courtesy or kindness after all the great

  standing I have had with them and others..

was not looking for harshness, or blaming.. I know now this card was not for me and my family..

 everybody makes mistakes.. harsh words and blame? sure I am to blame for getting

this card.. for always staying ahead of payments and never missing any..

I am to blame for asking for 1 payment to be delayed.. 1

  for thinking I could air and let people know, because I care about me, and especially abbout others in life

I am to blame, for sharing my story, hoping I could help others.. not to called names, or feel the lash from people who are not living the nightmare, I got in, getting out of, and have been living for 3 weeks with this bank

 I know  now, that me and my family could have done without merrick bank card.. and since all of everything else has been worked thru, is current, with  people have been working with me

  and my family..

since payment will only be late by 3 weeks..

I was not sure why  merrick says its okay, we can work it out.. but on line it shgows they are not..

which  will not work with me, and my family so we can catch our breath..

and a break..not looking for feedback

just wanted to let my brothers and sisters know this is an easy card to get

too easy..

there is no room at all for any error..

loss of family is hard enough.. will never be able to replace family...

and this card? they could have offered me a courtesy as they had said.. not forcing us past  our credit limit, and not tacking on their other fees.. they so easily explain away.. but its not shown on line.. just an amount due

It was YOU who was late making a payment.  The reason doesn't matter.  It was YOU who ran up all the extra charges, not them.  So go ahead and live up to your serial deadbeat reputation and make payments "whenever you can".  Go ahead. 

 

NO RIPOFF HERE -- Complainer is a serial deadbeat.
