Momax Builders-Fred Resnick Ripped us off for over 40K and left us with a 10 ft. walled hole to show for it Northbrook Illinois

We signed a contract 5/28/04 for a Master bedroom suite and to extend the basement underneath. We obtained the permits 7/8/04 and work started 7/29/04.

They worked 8 days in Aug. & 5 days in Sept.(LDW 9/11)putting up the forms to pour the concrete walls. After numerous calls and answered voice mails, We received a call from Fred Resnick on 10/8, stating that if we could advance a check for $10,000 to our foreman Andrew, Momax could pour the basement walls on 10/12.

We gave Andrew a $10,000 check on 10/11, they poured the walls on 10/12 and removed the forms on 10/14. No more work has been done.

After many calls, Fred called and faxed me a letter on 12/17 requesting an additional $5,000 to pour the basement floor. He stated he was out of town, no one had access to his checks and he would refund the difference of what I paid and actually owed on his return on 12/28. I refused stating that $40K should be more than enough to cover the work that had been done plus the bsmt. floor and framing.

Fred and Andrew came to my house on 1/8/05 to discuss our job. They stated they needed additional drawings and would return the following week to complete the job. The drawing were sent but of course no other work has been performed.

We have contacted an Atty, the States Atty., Atty. General, the Country Club Hills Police and Bldg. Dept and the BBB. We are still waiting. We have little hope of ever receiving our money back. I hope that Fred and his wife whom I feel was aware of what was going on, spend the rest of their natural life in Cook County Jail with the real criminals.
