These evil sacks of #%@%! are still jerking us around. The following is a letter written to the claims Dept at Morgan Van Lines before they decided to us that we needed to fill out the forms that they claimed to have sent us previously. Just jumping through thier hoops before putting them out of business.

RE: Move Number 11165

To Whom It May Concern:

I have been asked by Morgan Van Lines to put my many grievances into a letter. So, here it goes. I'll try to be brief.

Summary of Pick-up through Delivery:

Carla worked with Sara, a Morgan Relocation Specialist, on setting up the move. Sara was one of the few employees of Morgan who was not rude, nasty, condescending or seemingly a liar. As a matter of fact, it was Sara's pleasant attitude and helpful nature that resulted in our choosing Morgan Van Lines. I'd like to believe that she is not aware of the incompetence that takes place after the move is assigned and dispatched. I'd like to commend the girls in the office who answer the phones as well. They were always pleasant and professional as well.

We were told that the movers would arrive at our previous residence (5400 Carriageway Drive, Apt. 303, Rolling Meadows, IL) the morning of September 29th. On September 28th, we received a calling stating that Morgan needed to change the pick-up date to September 30th.

We agreed and were prepared for them to arrive on the 30th. By late afternoon on the 30th, after several inquiries from us, we were told that they would arrive the morning on October 1st. As our lease was up at midnight on October 1st, we needed to make special arrangements with our previous landlord, thus costing them preparation time for their new tenant, delay in move-in for the new tenant and a great deal of embarrassment for us.

To add insult to injury, the movers did not arrive until after noon and initially could not comprehend that they were able to start removing furniture and the boxes that were ready for them, as there were some things that we were still working on. When Carla tried to explain this to the lead man, he was rude and told her not to tell him how to do his job as he had been doing this for a year and a half. As Carla is pregnant, I took over all dealings with Morgan to avoid her miscarrying our child.

The price began to increase as soon as the drivers found out that we were on the 3rd floor of an elevator building this was not news to Morgan as this had been discussed with Sara, the Relocation Specialist.

By the time they were ready to leave, the price had increased to $4,500 - mind you, this is only a 1 bedroom apartment!! Although I was in complete disagreement with this new price, I signed the form and gave them an additional $1,000 deposit (on top of the initial $300 deposit and the $300 3rd floor fee) or they were refusing to go forward with the move. At that point, they left and told us that they should arrive for delivery on Saturday, October 6th.

We were excited at the prospect of our property getting there on the 6th, but assumed that it might arrive as late as Monday, the 8th a full week from pick-up.

We left Illinois in our car on October 2nd and arrived in California on the 3rd. On the 4th, I left a message for Morgan to call us. After receiving no return phone call, I left another message on the 5th.

On the 7th, I finally reached Morgan and was told that I needed to call and speak with the Dispatcher. I called him immediately and he informed me that the truck had gone directly to New York after leaving Illinois. In addition, he had made the decision to put our things into storage in NY, in order to load and transport another move to California. After which, the truck would return to NY to reload our items and drive again to California at which time we would have our things delivered. Understandably, I became somewhat irate at this point. The conversation with this man was in such broken English and his grasp of the English language was so poor that most of the conversation had to be repeated at least 3 or 4 times. He asked me to write down an address in NY and refused to tell me why therefore wasting more of my time.

When I had finished writing down the address, he proceeded to tell me to send a cashier's check for the remaining $3,146.39 if I wanted my property as he did not trust me to pay him on delivery. I asked him how I was supposed to trust him/Morgan when the original contract had already been breeched by not providing us with timely deliver, making the decision to move our things into storage, etc.

The conversation ended with his promise that the truck would arrive by the 13th. As a result, we decided to sign our new lease effective October 13th and paid for that month as well as put down the necessary deposit.

From the 9th through the 17th, every time I called to inquire, I was informed that the movers would call 48 hours before they got here. On the 18th, I spoke with Ron at Morgan who said that our things were put into storage in NY because it was noted in our file that we were considering storage. Ron, by the way, was very helpful, it would seem.

My conversation with Morgan on October 21st was the straw that broke the camel's back. Morgan informed me that the movers were now leaving Arizona and would be arriving by 8:00 am on the 23rd. Then the drivers called and told me that they would be here by 10:00 am on the 23rd. On the 22nd, the movers called to say that they would not be arriving until 8:00 pm on the 23rd and we let them know that that would be against building rules. They said they would be in touch. At 8:00 am on the 24th, I called Morgan and were told that they were just preparing to call me as the truck has been broken down in Houston for the past 3 days (and the drivers have receipts to prove this), so we wouldn't be seeing our things until late on the 25th or the 26th. I missed a job interview (with potential earnings of $7,000 over a 2 week period) for the morning of the 24th because I assumed that since they did not make it the previous evening, I would need to be available to them for that morning!

Thursday, October 25th, we receive a phone call at 6:30 am from the drivers saying that they will be arriving that morning by 10:00 am. I had to put them off for 2 hours or so, as I had agreed to teach a class in the morning again with no advance warning and never any sign of our belongings, I figured I would be available. The drivers said that they would be at our new apartment by 2:00 pm after taking care of another customer.

They arrived at 7:30 pm. I told them that it was unacceptable to move the things in at that time, as it would be disturbing to the neighbors on a weeknight. I was told that we either allowed them to deliver our stuff or we would not be able to get it for several more days as they were headed to San Francisco for a morning pick up. Out of the fear of not knowing when we would ever see our things again, we got special permission from the Building Manager - this was granted solely based on the fact that she felt sorry for us after our ordeal to date with Morgan. Sadly, that turned out to be only Act I of this tragic interaction with Morgan. The movers finished at nearly 12:30 am. I also was forced signed and pay the balance upon the arrival or they would not bring our things into the new apartment.

Damages:

In the light of the next day, we realized that:

....No furniture was placed even remotely near where it were to go or reassembled
....Half of the furniture still had the moving blankets on them
....All of the boxes were just piled haphazardly in one section of the apartment (with a 10-speed bike laying on top)

As Carla is pregnant, I had to inconvenience my brother and some of my friends in order to attempt to get the furniture positioned somewhat properly. This took several days as we got through the boxes that were all over.

As we uncovered the furniture, we discovered the following problems:

....We had not received the bed frame or any of the hardware to reassemble the canopy
....The entire bedroom set (dresser, armoire, and 2 end tables) had been destroyed as each piece's drawers no longer go in and our on the rails and the mirrored tops are all shattered
....The bases for the dining room table, coffee table (a matched set) and end table are all destroyed as whole chunks are missing from each
....Several of the dining room chairs are ripped at the feet ....The sofa (which was not even 9 months old!!) has a large tear, is structurally unstable and is completely filthy ....The entertainment center is structurally unstable and has several chunks gouged out of it
....The 2 wardrobes are also structurally unstable, the mirrored doors no longer line up properly and are chipped, there are several gouges in the sides and the shelves/clothes hanging bars were never received
....As for the 52 television, both the base and set itself are scratched and the whole things leans to one side
....The 27 television, the connections in the rear are smashed
....The halogen floor lamp was broken
....A square fan was crushed

After finding that all of our furniture was destroyed, we were not surprised at what we found upon opening and unpacking the boxes. Here is a quick summary list of the items that we found to be broken:

....The majority of a service for eight dish set (plates, bowls, desert plates, and cups and saucers)
....Many glasses of assorted sizes and shapes
....Most wine glasses and champagne flutes (including one of the special addition 2000 flutes by Waterford)
....A cast iron spaghetti pot
....One of a set of two night table lamps
....An antique telephone
....An expensive pottery bowl
....A statue as well as several figurines
....A solid silver clock
....A Harley Davidson wind chime
....2 Rubbermaid file boxes
....Many collectibles (including tea cups and saucers from Carla's grandmother)
....About a dozen Christmas ornaments
....Several candle holders and candles or assorted shapes and designs
....An oil painting
....A statue of the Blessed Mother and Carla's baby shoes!!

As we noted upon delivery, there are six boxes that were not delivered. By the process of elimination, we have determined that the boxes contained the following:

....1 box of Compact Discs (approximately 100 in total, including the Led Zeppelin boxed set that we paid $125 for)
....1 box of Video Cassettes (approximately 100 in total)
....1 bag of assorted perfume bottles (i.e., Estee Lauder's Beautiful and Estee, Chanel Nos. 5 and 22, Gucci, Davidoff's Cool Water, Clinique's Happy, Calvin Klein's One, etc. 12 in total) as well as a number of other cosmetic products such as face cleanser/toner /mask and cellulite cream and moisturizers, etc.
....1 bag of Carla's clothes (primarily jeans and sweaters)
....2 boxes containing a number of framed prints

Unnecessary Expenses:

Out of necessity, we were forced to impose upon his brother for a place to stay for 22 days until the furniture arrived and an additional 6 days until we were able to make the apartment livable after the disaster that your crew left. As a result, we were forced to pay the management company of his complex $400 ($200 for Carla and $200 for myself) as we had exceeded the allowed squatting term of 7 days. In addition, we also needed to eat take out and fast food as we did not have a kitchen of our own to use.

The rent that we paid for October 13th through the 30th when we were either without our things or the place was yet unlivable after the shoddy delivery. That equals:

$875 (monthly rent)
divided by 31 (number of days in October)
times 17 (number of days we were unable to
live in the apt. due to Morgan)
-------
Total: $480

The original price that Carla was quoted was $1,595 and was to include door-to-door pick-up and delivery, labor, loading and unloading, padding to protect the furniture, disassembly and reassembly of furniture, insurance, fuel/tolls/mileage and the promise of outstanding customer service. Again, the amount that we were made to pay was approximately $5,000.

This results in an increase of over 300% by the time we got through paying the drivers for their inconvenience as a result of our 3rd floor apartments!! Again, we were told that we needed to pay if we wanted our things back and to complain after the fact.

I, also, would like to reiterate the fact that, at one point, we were even told that we needed to forward a cashier's check for the balance or we would not get our things at all. At no time, were we provided with any sort of proof that this increase was justified. All we had was the word of the movers who spoke and understood English at as poor of a level as the Morgan Dispatcher!!

In summary, we have never seen a poorer example of customer service. As stated earlier, my family members and friends witnessed the state of the apartment after delivery and could not believe their eyes. This paragraph is quoted directly from Sara's correspondence to Carla:

Customer satisfaction is our number one priority. It is ok for a customer to be just happy, however, satisfaction is a memory, an experience. We are dedicated to making your move the easiest it can be You have enough to think about, delays shouldn't be a concern, Morgan Van Lines is on time, every time!

I think that it is fairly evident that you have missed the mark miserably. I am hoping to be able to resolve this without going to court. If needed, I already have an attorney on retainer who assures me that you have completely built OUR case for us. Also, if a trial is necessary to remedy this situation, we will also be contacting Ralph Nader and every Consumer Activist associated with every television and/or radio station in America. Just imagine how this will play out in the media remember Carla is pregnant after all.

I will expect to receive a Cashier's Check in the amount of $ within 15 days of receipt of this letter or I will assume that you have decided to go to court and pay this amount and your attorney fees and our attorney fees and have the name or Morgan Van Lines smeared from sea to shining sea.

Please, file your own Rip-off Report so others will know! The more complaints, the easier it would be to band togehter and sue them!

So, some psycho just for no reason decided to call up all the females in your office and harass them. Yeah, sure makes sense to me. Heck I'd even drink the Kool-Aid.

Just because you don't say the word "fraud" in your office doesn't mean you don't commit it on a daily basis. Actually I think the correct legal term here is "extortion", although this sort of thing is also fraud.

It just amazes me how many scumbag movers, who all appear to have a 4th grade education but sure know how to pull con jobs, respond in here claiming that all these nightmare stories are just complete lies made up by people who have nothing better to do than sit around and harass them for no reason. I find their rebuttals to be about as honest as their service. I also wonder if any other business could possibly have so many uneducated, dim-witted unprofessional cons as the moving industry and still stay in business. Personally I doubt it.

Morgan Van Lines fined by FMCSA

AUTHOR: Eric - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, May 28, 2002

See:

http://www.movingscam.com/cgi-bin/BLReport.cgi?ID=73

Morgan Van Lines is an alias of 'All Points USA Relocation Systems, Inc.' which has been fined by the FMCSA for, quote,

All Points was cited for multiple violations including failing to have its tariff (pricing rates) available for public inspection; failing to acknowledge receipt of loss and damage claims within 30 days of receipt; failing to provide the required consumer information, "Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move"; failing to weigh interstate household good shipments in the required form and manner; and requiring shippers to sign documents releasing the carrier from its liability.

In other words, they are law-breaking scumbags, and I don't see why we should believe anything they say. They've already proven that they're crooks. Why should we think they're telling the truth now, when they've had no problem with blatantly violating the law multiple times in the past? (And believe me, it has to be *BLATANT* to get the FMCSA off their a*s, these are the laziest federal bureaucrats you'll ever find ANYWHERE).

Nevr did his relocation

It is very interesting how people would actually turn to a site such as yours . apparently a gentleman by the name of Guy Henry has taken his freedom to call Morgan van Lines and harras all of the sales personell and call all the females in this office, vulgar and disruptive ames and basically performs very childish.

HE IS NOT OUR CUSTOMER ladies and gentleman and we do not appreciate bad report about this company if there wa no service performed for him or fraud performed. There are tons of moving companies out there that will work in that specific way. You and I may very well label them as "Fly bu night movers and companies".
We will be in business for a very long long time, becase the term fraud will not be used in this office, nor will it be performed.
We are looking forward to many years in business and to good customer satisfaction.
I am sorry to say, but I can't believe that I am actually sitting here and writing you. It's kind of a waste of time. Sorry
The only reason we know about your site is because Mr. Henry seds us very disturbing e-mails and threat letters for no reason .

I have them so nervous now, that they had to file a police report on me.

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, April 02, 2002

I recently spoke with Ronen Ben-Lulu, the supervising manager at Morgan Van Lines. For over a month, he claimed to be sending me the paperwork for their claims department to redo again. When I spoke to him now, he is suddenly unwilling to do anything anymore.

Apperently, I have them so nervous now, that they had to file a police report on me. I don't know what exactly they have in this report, because Mr. Ben-Lulu is now hanging up on me when I call.

He claims I have a sex line somewhere in my Rip off report. Can you find it? I certainly cannot.

He also claims that they are scared of me, because I have called them swearing and I have called them after having had a couple of drinks.

It couldn't have been the fact that they tripled the price, time they took and destroyed everything they moved, could it have been?
