We ordered moving help through U-Haul on the U-Haul website as part of an order for a rental truck. Advertised as U-Haul, two men two hours loading service. Our house had already been moved by professional movers but we left behind 12 pieces of furniture; a bed broken down, three dressers, three small chairs, a coffee table a small hutch and a ready to move (kit installed and disconnected) washer and dryer. The house is empty, on flat ground 15 feet from the street, no stairs. We got a 15 foot truck even though a 10 would do the job ($3.00 more), to make loading easy. Our professional mover estimated loading the remainign items would take 45 minutes to an hour. My 35 YO daughter drove to Phoenix to drive the truck and complete the move under the assumption that this was all through U-Haul. She and we assumed she was safe based on U-Haul's reputation. We were wrong.
The "Moving Helps showed up amost three hours late without notice. While there was two men they moved slowly even though they knew we had only commited to two hours. WHen doen they demanded another hours pay in cash. When my daughter refused, they threatened her with physical harm moving to winthin inches of her face saying if she did not pay they woulf &*(*%^^ her up. She ran into the house and locked the door and waited to they left. They waited down the street and followed her for a while. She called home and we told her to call the police.
I called U-Haul custoemr service. Can't help not a U-Haul issue. Transferred to the Regional U-Haul center. Sory, nothing they could do, told me to call Moving Help. There is no number for Moving Help on their site, only a chat box. The chat person said to call the police.
First, this servie was represented as U-Haul. INdee the site says "powered by U-Haul" yet U-Haul denies any ownership or responsibility. Second, there is not way to contact Moving Help directly even if you wish to contact them. Only email and chat, a practice used by less than up and up companies. Sadly Imust add U-Haul to this list. I ordered the service on U-Haul. I paid for the service on U-Haul. U-Haul should stand up for their representation. Yet they do not. Shame on U-Haul.

U-Haul Corp,
Please explain why;
1) I can order the moving services on your website- but you have no responsibility for the quality or reputation of the service?
2) The Moving Help.com website header says "Powered by U-Haul"? Would that not make anyone assume U-Haul was involved and responsible? Yet U-Haul takes no responsibility?
3) I paid for the service on the U-Haul website and U-Haul took my credit card money? Yet U-Haul takes no responsibility!
4) My daughter was placed in a dangerous situation based on ordering a truck and loading services from U-Haul. Yet U-Haul takes no responsibility.
I hope many, many people read this and my many other posts on every rating agency I can find that; if you work with U-Haul...U-Haul takes no responsibility!

My name is Maria Palmisano and I am with U-Haul International. I first would like to offer you my apology for the inconvenience you experienced with your move. U-Haul is not responsible for your Moving Helpers. Your concerns need to be re-directed to the service provider that you hired to move your furnishings. Any money collected by U-Haul for Moving Helpers was released to the service provider when you signed off on the moving agreement. U-Haul does not provide a service for packing, loading and unloading of your goods. If you need to reach me, I can be contacted at maria_palmisano@uhaul.com.
