I just brought in my son's 2013 Honda Civic to Muller Honda of Gurnee. There was a large piece of equipment hanging down from under the car that was dragging on the ground. It appeared to be a plastic cover for something. I made an appointment to check it out and when they did I was told it came off due to driver negligence and as such was not under warranty. I questioned how something falling off the car underneath it could possibly be driver negligence when it clearly appeared to be a manufactures defect. All I could get was a lot of runaround but no clear answer. I decide to talk to the sales manager...I had purchased 4 cars from that location in the last 3 years...assuming he would see the logic in my situation.

When I explained to Tony what was going on he just said to talk to the service manager. I told him I already did that and I was hoping that since I had been a loyal customer of his dealership with numerous purchases in a short period of time that he might be able to help me with this situation. He was, in my opinion, rude and dismissive to the point that I said would you prefer to lose a good customer over $150 repair. His answer was "whatever" and walked away. I guess future sales, to me, meant nothing to him. I definitely wouldn't want to disappoint him so I will definitely take my business elsewhere and advise everyone I know to do the same. Sometimes that's the only way a consumer can get satisfaction from rude sales people.

Confirmed it wasn't damaged

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Saturday, January 16, 2016

I know it wasn't damaged because I took it to another repair service and they confirmed it was a defect that should have been under warranty.  Not the first time he's heard of a dealer trying to rip off a customer like this because they can make more money if the customer pays for the repair then they do when it's a warranty repair.

And the bigger issue is the way the sales manager didn't give a crap that I had purchased 4 new vehicles from their location in the last 2-3 years.  They treat you completely differently here when your not buying a new car from them.  Don't be fooled!

Shield hanging under car

AUTHOR: anonymous - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, January 15, 2016

I am sorry you feel this way, but unfortunately if a part of the vehicle is damaged we do not have the authority to submit this repair claim to the Manufacturer for warranty. It is considered the same as a rock hitting the windshield and would be the responsibility of your insurance company that covers your collision and comprehensive coverage.

How do you know your son didn't bottom out on something thus tearing off this shield?
