My wife and I both owned dogs all our years. My wife always had Poodles. We wanted to buy our daughgter her own poodle. We had one currently 9 years old.

Found a very impressive website...

I called to set up a purchase, was told the pup was $500.00...I repeated back "$500.00?" yes was the answer from David Murray....I repeated five? 1,2,3,4,5 Hundred? he said yes and that he needed a $200.00 non refundable deposit to hold the pup...cash or money order..no checks.

I should have gotten the quote in writting! I sent the money order, called him to confirm details of getting the pup, during which he mentioned the $700.00 balance due. I said "The pup is $500.00 my balance is $300.00 to which he said oh no your're mistaken the price is $900.00.

I rolled over and sent my wife to Arkansas to pick up the pup with a $700.00 money order. Christmas was near and I feared I would not find another pup ready tp go.

After taking him to our vet immediatley we were informed his ears were caked with fleas and were shown swollen bleeding insides of his ears and the pup had worms...was eating his own stool...symptom of worms.

He had been scrathing his ears at the airport in AK but my wife and I had never had a dog with fleas ever and did not immediatley recognize the sign.

We also never received the promised health reports from exams and proof of lineage.

Based on what we experienced this guy is a first class rip off artist and we were the trusting suckers.

We spent thousands of dollars getting this pup healthy...did we send him back? No way...we look at this as if we RESCUED the poor dog from this anal sphincter.

i had a nightmare of a time with David also. I had to be on him a lot for him to get back to me,he called me  one time and was loud and rude to me about shipping my puppy. I can understand not wanting to ship a puppy in the cold of winter but there were dYs that were nice to ship and he wouldn't ship. I even called delta to see if they would ship on a day and she said yes it was perfectly fine. But he needed like a week heads up or something.then he finally had a guy pick my puppy up and drive him to me which was a nightmare also. Puppy was in car for 2 days and was going on 3 if I hadn't met up with the driver. Then I never received pedigree papers and abc papers.

David Murray Poodles

I bought A poodle from David Murray about four years ago.  After talking to David Three or four times I was convinced he was the one I wanted to do business with.  I and my wife drove 900 miles to pick up our puppy.  We found David to be A meticulous person totally dedicated to his dogs.  He told us up front, the price was $900.

I found it rather strange that he raised is dogs in his house, but it was clean and the dogs we saw appeared to be clean, healthy, and well cared for. The puppy we purchased was the smartest dog I have ever seen, and she was a snap to housebreak.  She has never been physically disiplined and never will be, talking to her is about all it takes.  David raises good stock.

To make a long story short, I find it hard to believe David Murray cheated anyone.  I would recommend David to my closest friend.

I also remembered when the puppy came the hair was oddly shaved around his tail at the base of his spine.

David called this a "Show Cut" our vet told us this is a technique to rid a dog of fleas since the base of the spine is a "hot spot."

We did not recognize what may be obvious to ya'll. In our lifetimes of having dogs we never dealt with fleas. Our dogs, as most around here just do not get them so easy as in the south, the climate is different.
At the airport my wife noted him scratching his ears...to her that meant they needed to be cleaned not that he had fleas and the inside of his ears were cacked with blood from their feeding. Ears are another hot spot. A dog eating his own poop?????? Why would I make this up?

Nothing he guaranteed or promised was fulfilled.

If it was in your case ...great....it was not in this case. I did see someone else had filed a complaint with the arkansas BBB, wonder what their issues were? They keep records for 36 months...don't find it listed anymore under complaints...it was there when I checked in 2007.

Still very glad we rescued this sweet animal.

WARNING: If you choose to do business with him nail everything down in writting so complete that your recourse if needed would be simple...if he is the great gentlemen his friends claim him to be he would not fear signing a guarantee you required. Demand health records you can check and all papers he promises before you send him any non-refundable deposit.....hmmm, why does he make it non-refundable and cash or money order only? Oh yeah, the bait and switch with a hook!

Well...David has friends.

Nothing stated was untrue. As for all the presumed test of validity ya'll posted, or what my own disposition certainly must be (none of you ever met me and no matter what your job experience are not qualified to judge me based on my post vs your "experience.")

I'll offer some response. I did contact him...got no satisfaction. Timing as a test of validity is BS. The many things in my life I was and am handling that have greater priority than seeing justice done immediately to such a fly in my ear as David Murray would likely make any of ya'll faint or die if you had to handle it....Oh, now I am judging you....lets just say the comment means If I had taken time and attention to rattle Mr. Murray's cage "immediately" I would fit your suggested comments. For me to do so and ignore needed attention to more important issues would show I was unfairly biased and vindictive and anxious to get justice. I was and am not. I have carried this in the back of my mind...had some time on my hands and posted this warning.

The money was not an issue for me...I earn quite well. The dog is not an issue for me we have loved and cared for him and hopefully erased any harmful operant conditioning our boy would remember from his existence in squalor. My issue is Murray himself. If I had the time on my hands then or was overtly vindictive he would be out of business by now and possibly in jail.

I did not lose any papers....never received. All the rebuts I have read here sound like parroting of David Murray himself when I talked to him. He gave THE EXACT SAME ARGUMENTS ALMOST VERBATIM.

David Murray - Murray toy poodles - Very Honest and ethical gentleman.

I've dealt with David Murray several times over the years and have always found him to an honest, ethical gentleman. His poodles are exactly as he portrays them - absolutely no bait and switch! The puppies I've received from Mr. Murray as well as puppies he's sent to friends and relatives that I've recommended him to, have always been healthy, happy and well-socialized. Always! As for price, Mr. Murray's poodles don't even start at $500.00 and they're worth every penny. His sires and dams are all extensively tested for health issues toy poodles are prone to and are all tested clear. These tests are not inexpensive and also shows Mr. Murray's commitment to breed to improve toy poodles and breed them to the AKC standard.

In order for a puppy to fly, one must have a health certificate from a veterinarian no sooner than 48 hours before the flight. The airlines all require this. Also, there is no way his wife could NOT have known if this puppy had been "infested" with fleas. Mr. Murray met this man's wife at the airport, gave her the puppy, and chatted with her until time for her flight. As someone who DOES rescue poor dogs in bad situations, it is virtually impossible NOT to see an infestation. As to this person's accusation that it took thousands of dollars to restore the health of this puppy; IF what he claims were true, a simple flea bath, a monthly flea preventative and a simple worming would have been sufficient. Unless, of course he has an unscruplous veterinarian. This statement alone is a wild exaggeration; how can anyone believe anything this man has to say?

It has been my privilege to visit Mr. Murray's home several times over the years and each and every time have found his poodles to be healthy, clean, well-socialized members of his family and his home clean. His poodles are in his home - not in a kennel. It's obvious he loves each and every one of his dogs and his affection is returned by them. Mr. Murray has a passion for poodles and it shows.

I worked 40 years in customer service for one of the bigger companies in the U.S. and many times dealt with unhappy, vindictive people who could not be pleased no matter what one did to try and correct a real or imagined disservice. I believe that is the situation here. I always tried to feel sorry for these individuals because it so obvious they are really unhappy, sad, angry people; however, when someone tries to ruin another's good name I can't feel anything but contempt for that person.

I spoke with Mr. Murray about this situation and after he went through his records showed this man purchased this dog in Dec. 2007! . Why would the owner wait 19 months to write a vicious attack?? I don't know what his agenda is, but I'm outraged at this attack on someone who simply does not deserve it.

I was in shock reading this Ripoff Report about David. I am just one of the many very lucky owners of a few of David's poodles. Let's face it - there are many reasons for untruthful comments/outrageous lies about someone or something. For instance, personality clashes or perhaps prompted by other breeders in order to ruin someone's reputation, etc. The dog world is a "dog eat dog" society. Many, many of the poodle breeders consider their dogs commodities and not loving members of their household, and they act friendly to your face, and then turn around and stab you in the back. I would like to know why this individual filed this report now after he has had the puppy since 2007, and never personally contacted David at all. I really find that particularly ODD! Additionally, if this puppy was in such bad shape when the wife picked him up, she could have refused to buy him. After the arrival of a new dog from any breeder, I take them immediately to my VET for a physical, worm check, etc, and everyone of them have always passed with "flying colors". So, to resolve the health issues and thousands of dollars spent, a Vet report would prove that what was reported is a huge LIE. As far as being quoted one price and then charged a higher price, that is also a lie. David's starting price for a puppy is higher than $500. Prices vary with the average starting price being more than $500, and some higher in price for various reasons such as breeding rights, size, color, sex, etc.

The dogs/puppies I have gotten from David were shipped to me sight unseen, except for pictures. When I picked them up at the airport, they were in a very clean shipping crate with a blanket for comfort, they were groomed and bathed, smelled so clean, and looked absolutely stunning. Never ever did one of David's dogs arrive with fleas, dirty ears, dirty coats, or worms. Each dog was represented exactly as David described them because he takes great pride in his poodles. Each dog/puppy arrived with a health record from David's vet, their AKC paperwork, lineage/pedigree information, and whatever else David thought pertinent on this particular dog. In addition, the temperament on the dogs is outstanding which clearly indicates they are raised and well socialized in a loving home. David's dogs and puppies are house dogs - no kennel situation for his poodles.

As to not receiving the AKC papers or pedigree, I find that very hard to believe. If the new owners lost the papers, there is no problem, you can get new ones from the AKC. Do you mean that since 2007, this report is the first time David heard that the new owners were so unhappy. I know if I had problems of any nature about a dog I bought, I would be on the phone with the breeder discussing the issues and trying to resolve them. Never once did they contact David and let him know how unhappy they were with the condition of the puppy. If I spent thousands of dollars you can bet that David would be hearing from me everyday until the issues were taken care of.

I STILL FIND IT HIGHLY UNLIKELY THAT THIS PUPPY HAD ANY OF THE HEALTH ISSUES MENTIONED! WHY WOULD SOMEONE WAIT ALMOST 2 YEARS TO WRITE THIS RIPOFF REPORT? WHY DID THEY NOT CONTACT DAVID IMMEDIATELY AFTER THEY GOT THE PUPPY HOME? A reputable breeder like David would make sure that any issues were taken care of. HAVE YOU SEEN DAVID'S WEBSITE? Do you know how much work it is to keep a poodle in such a long show coat? It is hours and hours of grooming and bathing which indicates that David loves and cares very much about his poodles. I could never keep my poodles the way David does because it is a LOT of WORK and TIME.

David, in my opinion, is a very honest and reputable breeder. A reputable breeder stands behind his breedings, and is always available to the new puppy owner. There are many breeders out there that don't want to know anything once the puppy is yours. That is not a reputable breeder! ALL this OWNER HAD TO DO WAS GIVE DAVID A CALL, AND THE SO-CALLED ISSUES WOULD HAVE BEEN RESOLVED. PLEASE DO NOT BELIEVE THIS REPORT THAT IS NOTHING BUT LIES, BECAUSE YOU WILL BE MORE THAN SATISIFED WITH A MURRAY POODLE, AND DAVID WILL ALWAYS BE THERE FOR YOU!

I've purchased four poodles from David Murray and am extremely pleased with them all.

As I said I've purchased four poodles from David Murray over the last few years and am extremely pleased with all of them. I've also recommended his puppies to friends and relatives who were so taken with mine. They were exactly as he represented them to me and were all very healthy. I've been to David's home several times and once I just showed up because I was in the area at the time and EACH and EVERY time his dogs were healthy, pretty and very well taken care of. I could tell he spent a great deal of time with his dogs and that he truly cared for each one. They're in his house and his dogs and his house were very clean. As I'm extremely allergic to fleas, had his dogs had fleas I would have known immediatly. He never failed to give me a health certificate from his vet as well as the AKC papers and pedigrees.

No puppy I got from Mr. Murray had fleas or worms or any other issue when I took the puppy to my vet on my return home. They were all healthy, happy, well socialized puppies.

The person who wrote this report's puppy HAD to have had a health certificate from a veterinarian within 48 hours of the flight for him to be able to fly as the airlines require this.

I would also like to know why the person writing this complaint would wait until July to write this as he clearly states he got the puppy before Christmas.
