My AZ Lawyers represented my divorce case and did so in an appalling manner.

I was assigned Evan Bornmann, now disbarred for 24+ complaints to the Arizona Bar Association. While working on the case with Evan and his paralegal, the details of my case were constantly confused. Communication with the firm was spotty, at best, and most of the information that I sent was either never read, or completely ignored. I knew this because, when I was finally able to get ahold of someone, they typically did not mention or know about the information I had emailed them. However, I was charged for EVERY email that I sent them to the tune of $120/hr. They typically charged me upwards of $10 to $50 dollars for these emails, which I am certain they either never read, or, at best, perused.

When my day in court came, the lawyer showed up 40 MINUTES LATE! This, as you might imagine, did not make the judge happy, so I ended up getting the shaft, to the tune of $2400 a month in child support and alimony. I ONLY MAKE $55K! This left me with no pay check!

Another thing. When I signed the retainer agreement with this firm, they stated that I would be sent an invoice every month. This came with the a $3000 retainer fee, which I paid.

I never received an invoice! I called regularly to request one and was constantly ignored. Until after I went to court and was totally screwed by my lawyer. Then, I got an invoice for $7000! This, IN ADDITION to my retainer!

When I got this enormous bill, I asked if the bill could be reduced, due to the negligent nature of my representation. I was referred to the accounting department. Apparently the lawyers and the paralegals didn't have time to hear me out. They just sent me to accounting to ask someone with no understanding of my case, or concern for the fact that their lawyer openly and obviously defrauded me, to hear my plea. Without surprise, accounting said that they could not reduce my bill at all. I was charged "fairly" for the time their firm had put in.

So, my lawyer, Evan, got disbarred, and I was assigned a new attorney, Candace Kallen. This attorney was young, inexperienced, and just as negligent and inconsiderate of my case as my previous one. She constantly ignored emails, some of which were answered by the firm's paralegals. The paralegals were often vague, or even oblivious to my case, and were typically condescending in tone.

I contacted the Bar Association and have filed an official complaint. However, when I attempted to contact a legal malpractice attorney, I was told that legal malpractice is typically only worth representing if the losses were for more than $400k. No joke. If you aren't ripped off for more than a half-million dollars, you can't even take these people to court!

This law firm is fraudulent. They hire either unscrupulous attorneys, or young, oblivious attorneys who have no idea that they are working for this terrible organization. They are doing this to more people every day, and continue to, so far, without any real repercussions.

Stay away from this law firm!!! You have been warned!!!

My AZ Lawyers

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, April 13, 2016

Since writing this post, as well as others around the Internet, I was sent multiple letters by My AZ Lawyers threatening to file a lawsuit for defamation of character, also stating that I would be accountable for any losses caused because of my statements. I have since removed all of my posts, not because I believe that my statements are untrue, but because of fear of retaliation. I have since learned that Evan Bornman was not disbarred for his 24+ violations, but only suspended. This means that, once his suspension is over, he will be practicing law once again. Candace Kallen and My AZ Lawyers are a separate law firm from Evan Bornman. They did, however, pass along his fees. Whether they read all of my emails or not, they did not respond to many of them. My AZ Lawyers may not be as bad as I have said, but I found their services to be less than adequate for my needs. I also believe that it was inappropriate to continue to charge me for Mr. Bornman's fees. I did not find that their representation was equal to the value that I was charged. Finally, the fact that the firm responded to my reviews with threatening letters, I believe, demonstrates that, rather than attempt to resolve this issue, they will, for any public complaints, respond in such a manner.
