MyWot WOT Unethical Practices , Internet

All in all, this company is a joke... It's not really worth even posting a complaint because almost everyone realizes that mywot is a scam. Unfortunately, I thought they were legitimate at first, but after threats and abusive comments and more, this is anything but a legitimate website...

Wot allows anyone to register, however your rating doesn't count if you're new. If you've been a user for years, you might have a higher voting weight than new users, but only if you vote the same way as the top level users. These top level users are paid by mywot, they are employees of mywot and on the payroll. No one can and will dispute this.

The top users go around trolling the internet in search of reputable small companies to attack. Once an ethical small business gets 1 or 2 low ratings, the hope is they will contact mywot looking get their ratings improved. Now that the small business owner is on the hook, mywot offers to improve their rating for a fee. I was offered to have their service for a fee, but I declined to pay the piper... Which in my opinion is extortion... Anyways, there's no disputing this either... All anyone has to do is follow certain users, like cog or superman58 and a few others... The same 5 or so users always rate the same select websites... Interesting isn't it? The fact that out of all the websites in the world, these 5 or so users always pick the same websites to rate... Not an orchestrated effort right? What a joke... Moreover, just check to see how many positive ratings these certain users give - not many, because they are paid to troll around and attack a certain websites with negative ratings.

I have a small business that I have been running since 2002. I have a perfect rating with the BBB, no lawsuits filed against me (unlike mywot who has tons of suits and/or claims against them), and not a single meaningful complaint, unless there was a delay in shipping or something due to weather and someone emailed me asking about it... I am the standard when it comes to ethical practices and I'm completely dissatisfied with the wot rating I was given. I followed the guidelines on the mywot website on asking the users who negatively rated my website to reconsider or ask them what I can do to improve it or maybe even get it changed. So I asked 3 of the 5 users who negatively rated me what was wrong with my site and how is my specialty electrical parts store unsafe and unfit for children and how am I fishing for data like they claim...

I got 2 private messages telling me to "f--- off" and "go suck a di-K fa-ot" and the other message said how I'm so "f-ing dumb, you complain about my rating and don't even know me? I know you, I know your phone number, I know your location, I know because it's on your website..."

After getting these 2 private messages on mywot from who I thought were just users (before investigating this company) I sent a complaint to abuse. That's when sami replied saying "not true" and that was it. So then I went back to copy and paste the whole thing, that's when I saw the messages were gone. That's not when the messages stopped. I got a few more messages via my online contact form, in these messages they stated horrific comments that I do not want to be associated with in anyway... Comments like calling me an absolutely derogatory name that begins with a "N" multiple homosexual comments, and on and on... Obviously, I don't want to restate these comments but I do find it highly offensive and it needs to be reported!

When I went back to support with my emails and additional complaints, I was told that's not their problem since it's contact made from my website and that I shouldn't question my rating. After that, my account was banned for violating their terms... I still don't know what terms I violated. Lastly, someone edited false information about my website/business and put it in a way to look like I, the owner, wrote it. I didn't submit any info about my website and didn't give consent that they could come up with an "about" section from the owner, because I didn't post that info. It's false info with malicious intent!

After much investigating and research, I came across multiple people and multiple websites who dealt with these guys before. I was told username "sami" is also "admin" (which is a violation of mywot terms because you're not allowed multiple accounts). Sami also answers all the support complaints - all of them. I was told the 5-6 users who attacked me do get paid to do so, but it's only 2 people. Moreover, mywot will delete anything negative against them on there site, so you can't share your opinion, which is fine with me, it's their website, but it does go at their credibility issues.

There rating is skewed so that the top few people at wot or employees at wot are truly in control on how a website is rated. They aren't really interested in large websites, for example, Google and other large, popular, websites. Just checking a site like google and you'll see they have a few ratings, albeit high ratings. I suppose this is done to save face. However, how does the world's most popular website have the same amount of ratings as some extremely small businesses? This is a joke. Obviously, mywot isn't going to threaten or try to destroy google, because google wouldn't play that game and mywot wouldn't be found at all on the search engines if google decided to do that... Already it's hard to find mywot, unless you search their domain name specifically, because google realizes the scam in this company. Ultimately, they go after the small businesses who can't afford the false reputation and for a fee, it can all go away... What a scam. Also, the same 5 or so users can comment multiple times on website, which isn't allowed (per their rule) by other users, just these few users can comment over and over and over again to really make it look like your website is offensive and unsafe. They do this so they have true control on the situation and reputation of each and every website. They also deleted the 39 excellent ratings I had from over the years, just because these 5 or so users decided to do so...

The worse part about this company (if it is even a real company and not some guy in his mom's basement with a few friends) is that Sami allowed horrific comments and messages to be sent. Perhaps it was sami himself who sent it.  I don't know, but I do know he allowed it and condoned it. The users who made these awful comments are still active, still platinum, paid members, and they are still hammering other small businesses negatively. He even passed on the fact that I complained about it because these users told me I was going to be banned for complaining and then I was banned... There is simply too much coincidental  set of events. This is an orchestrated ploy or scheme by a few select people. They look like they are much bigger than they are, because sami has multiple accounts and so do other people. Just to check what sort of stop gaps they have, I created 30 usernames within 20 mins. So there is no system in place to stop you from creating multiple accounts. Each username is allowed to be registered and active until I disagreed with one of these 5 or so users. Once you do, you get horrific messages sent to you, including threats, and then you get banned.

Mywot is perhaps the most untrustworthy, unreliable, and corrupt websites on the net. When people talk about online character assassinations, swipes, unethical practices, baseless claims and so forth, mywot is the standard for these and other unethical practices. However, the blatant threats and racial slurs and derogatory comments should have been stopped. Those users should have been banned, but instead, they just continue to pay them to do this kind of thing. It's sad, pathetic and offensive. Yet, no one at mywot will do anything, because it's just a handful of people who control everything, and they are the users who are conducting themselves like this.

Business beware! This website will come along and try to hurt you, but don't fall for it. No one really visits mywot and they are widely considered irrelevant. However, it still unfortunate they slander, threaten and abuse small businesses who don't pay them for a better rating.

I'm posting this not because I hope my rating will go up, I honestly do not care about the rating anymore. I did post this in hopes that they will not send the messages they sent to me to other people in the future. Perhaps they thought I would just accept it and not report it, they thought wrong. I really can't go to the BBB or many other agencies because they are based in finland. Hopefully exposing them on here will at least get them to stop making threats and slurs and derogatory comments to other people in the future.
