national floors direct keeping my deposit after they canceled. told me there was xtra work that wasnt in original scope. i declined the additional work that was outside of the contract avon Massachusetts

i spoke to the guy they sent out. he told me everything was fine with my floor and there would be no problem laying down laminate. we signed contract. i gave him the down payment. he explained if i canceled the contract the refund would be kept. fine okay. installation comes out to do the work. they tell me that the floor is eneven and they cant do the work. they told me it would be xtra money in the amount of xyz... i declined it. customer service then said that i am the one cancelling the contract when indeed they are the ones. if i dont want xtra services that wasnt in the contract and they are saying they wont do the work without the xtra services then they are cancelling and taking my money that i gave to them in good faith moving forward.
