#3 Consumer Suggestion

Jay your full of crap

AUTHOR: Jimmy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, February 21, 2003

A few months ago I ordered a skin care product from a TV ad, after I completed the sale, the "Sales Rep" asked if I wanted a membership to a "Hartford Motor Club" I said very clearly NO!! I AM NOT INTERESTED IN ANYTHING ELSE BUT THE PRODUCT I CALLED IN FOR...

Low and behold about two weeks later I received a membership package in the mail for the Auto Club. After some searching I found a number to the customer service at the auto club and cancelled my so-called membership. They said they would take the charge off my CC bill.

2 weeks later I received my CC statement and guess what Jay? A $79 charge was there for the auto club. I then called the 800 number on the statement for the auto club and cancelled the membership again and had to dispute the CC charge with MC before it was removed.

So, Jay, I said no to the extra service and they slammed my name for it anyway. In my opinion these marketers get paid a commission on how many people they can slam into a rip off product or service and after the charge comes in then its the consumer that has to take the time to correct the situation.

Nipped it in the bud

Wow... I just won a million dollars in a sweepstake from Florida, for which I haven't visited in over 30 years!!! Sound too good to be true? It is. N.M.E. sent me an "Official Notice" regarding the Million Dollar Sweepstake they have.

When I called, the operator started asking personal questions, like What I'd do with the money, how many kids I have and if I had a Visa, Master Card, American Express etc. I stopped her mid sentence, smelling a scam, demanded I be removed from the mailing and phone list. She was dumbfounded, and asked why I wouldn't want to win the money. I asked her how many free magazines I got for filling out her survey, and she insisted they weren't free but discounted.

Its a scam, a scheme to get survey info out of you to put you on future mailing lists... and to bill you for magazines you've never ordered. Its happened to me before.

As far as this Jay from Clearwater, FL. who responded... I wonder what company he works for??? N.M.E.????

WELL BUDDY I USE TO WORK FOR THE COMPANY, AND YOU MUST HAVE AGREED WITH THE MAGAZINES! OTHER WISE YOU HAVE NOT RECIVED THE BILL. WHAT YOU NEED TO DO IN THE FUTURE IS LISTEN TO THE SALES REP, ALL THESE PEOPLE STATING THAT THEY WERE RIPED OFF, JUST DONT LISTEN TO THE SALES REPS. AND THATS WHY YOU THINK YOU GET RIPED OFF!
