I was hit by a driver who was asleep at the wheel. This has been 4 months ago. The driver was insured by Nationwide. This has been a nightmare. I hope I never have to deal with Nationwide ever again. Read more to hear all they have put me through.

First of all, Nationwide gave me a rental for just over a week, it was a truck also, where as I drive a small car that is very good on gas, this truck was not, and I have 2 children to drive around in this truck. Anyway I have the truck just over a week and they call me and tell me I have to turn it in they are not paying for it any longer. I turn it in and they havent even started repairing my car yet.

So repairs start on my car, the repairs are well over six thousand dollars. My car is 3 years old, less than sixty thousand miles on it but with that much damage it should have been totalled. Nationwide refused to repair my car with new parts, they used parts out of a junkyard, on my 3 year old car. Because new parts would have made the repairs more, over 75% of the value and totalled my car. The repairs were nearly 70% with the junkyard parts.

I was without a car to drive for two months. I finally get my car back and now there is paint chipping from the bumper, the doors dont want to shut well, the windows dont roll up correctly. And one of the wheels they replaced needs a wheel barring. No problems before. Wouldnt be a problem now had they not insisted that they would not use new parts but only junkyard parts.

Also, this is the good part. I asked for depreciation value on my car because it was so new. I know that now even though it is fixed it isnt worth what it was before, their insured hit it. Well the adjuster came to look at the car, took pictures. Incovienced me because my husband had to drive my car that day. Well he said, it would be 4-5 weeks before we would get a check and that a computer just spit the check out. UHH whatever. So six weeks later we call because we have gotten nothing back.

Well what does he say, he says he never came to take pictures of our car. Calls us liars basically, like my husband and all those he works with imagined that. So I call a manager/supervisor and suddenly he remembers coming to take the pictures but they are lost. They got deleted or something. So he has to interupt me at work to come back and take more pictures. Ok so then we find out that not only was he lying about not coming to take the pics but that the 4-5 weeks was a lie. It takes 1 week.

So now this has been done and we have estimates from car dealerships saying that my car is worth anywhere from 2300-3000 less because of this wreck even after being completely repaired. What offer do we get from Nationwide. $800 and we tell them no we want atleast 1700. So they come back with an offer of $1000 and refuse to budge anymore.

So either way you look at it I am at a loss of atleast $1300 because this guy hit me and was insured with Nationwide. Not only the $1300 but two additional months without a car and four months paying on a car that is not the way it was before this guy hit me.

My advice to you, if you get hit by someone insured wiht Nationwide, get an attorney immediately no questions asked. Also if you have Nationwide switch TODAY. Also if George Melvin is your adjuster, ask for a switch. He is a liar. Email me at Nationwide.insurance.ripoff@gmail.com to be added to my website for Nationwide insurance companys ripoff stories, we arent the only ones.

Well I was just trying to gain a little perspective on your issue by trying to understand why you would even think of accepting $1700 even with the diminished value figured in. Did you ever stop to think that maybe just maybe I might be in the same line of business? The insurance business, not Nationwide in case you missed that one. It is ALL a numbers game. But.... since you chose to berate me with comments that I obviously couldn't add. Good luck with that OK.

P.S. TO THE PUBLIC: Pray you know the this dude and everything about the issue before trying to "help" him with it. Hasta.

I purchased this car for over 15K (including trade in and specials) in 2004, it is a 2004, so no not used, NEW. And the car was retailed at nearly 12K when it was hit, not 8K, I dont know where you are coming up with your math either. My car now is valued at just over 8K, because of the accident. So yes by taking their offer I am losing lots of money on this car when the accident is NOT my fault and I dont think that is fair at all. They have inconvienced me from day 1 on this deal and if you would care to do a little more math Scott, 4 months makes over 120 days of inconvience to me and money lost to me for an accident that was not at all my fault. Need anymore help with the math?

Maybe it's just me but your math just doesn't fly. You claim to be taking at least a $1300 hit on a car that you will accept $1700 for. Now on the high end, which is what I'm estimating (and I'm giving you complete benefit of the doubt), That would make the car, acceptably, worth $5000. Yet it's only a 3 year old car that according to you, everything was working fine until your accident.

I can only assume you bought it used just due to todays economics, with depriciation (which by the way you WONT get from any insurance company) you paid what? $8000 for it? The reason I say this is that I know of no new cars on sale for under $10000, small or not. I'm not leaning on you but am struggling like hell to understand why you you would accept $1700 for a car that's 3 yrs. old, damaged or not.

The good thing is in this situation is that Nationwide will guarantee the used parts for as long as you own your vehicle. Had they used OE or Original Equipment, thos parts would only be guaranteed for 90 days. Nothing wrong with used parts. Used and damaged parts is a whole different story.

More details about value of the car before the accident might help me on this one.
