My daughter and her family moved from Oregon to Texas, the end of August 2007. The children were so unhappy, they called me crying, asking me to fly down there and get them.

The so called beautiful, spaceous three bedroom house they were supposed to move into, was a falling down small three bedroom house, full of cockroaches, spiders and bad wiring. My husband and I had a few dollars to help them out, and move them back to Oregon. This is the beginning of our trial and tribulations.

My son in law has been driving truck for 20 years. They used his truck to move their stuff down to Texas. All of their belongings including their car were on the back of his semi. When crossing the scales, they had a net weight of 7700 lbs, with the car on the truck. When they got to Texas, his father and step mother gave the kids a daybed with trundle, a window air conditioner and a table and chair s set. That was all they had accumulated while down there.

We hired Nationwide to move them back to Oregon. Naturally they wanted a list of their belongings, so they could give us an estimate of their belongings. I was making the deal with them, so I gave them the list. I forgot to mention the kids' three bicycles and a pool, that had been drained and was ready to go.

I was told that everything was set up for pickup on the 27th of August, between 12pm and 5pm. Their boss/landlord, went to the house and waited during that time, and no one showed up.......no phone call.

The next morning, as soon as I heard, I called N/R to tell them about it. I left messages at three different phone extensions, and not one of them returned my call, I had to call them back. I spoke to someone in customer services, and they told me that there wasn't even a carrier assigned to us, and that could take up to a month to schedule one. I told her that we were told that the stuff would be picked up on the 27th, so she put me through to the broker, that we had originally set up the move with.

He of course denied the allegation, and told me to let him contact the dispatch manager, and her would call me back. He never did, I had to call him that afternoon. He then told me that the house would be picked up on the 28th between 8am and 12pm.

Again the lady went over and sat at the house waiting for the movers. NO SHOW again, with no call. I called again. Later that day, a driver that spoke very broken english, called and said yes he wanted the load, his truck was empty and he wanted to head this way.

We scheduled him to be there the next day, between 12pm and 5pm. Well, he showed up, but had 2/3rds of a load, and said he didn't have enough room for all the stuff, so left the pool, a go cart and the three bicycles and a box. He said he would have to come back for them. Well I wasn't a happy camper about that, but it was too late then. The lady that had waited for them, stated that to get the doors closed, they were literally slamming them, and one held the door closed, while the other one locked them. Okay, now we are loaded with some of our stuff anyway.

The driver then drives over 200 miles to weigh, and obviously according to the scale ticket, fueled before weighing, because the steering axle and driving axle were both quite a bit heavier, and the weight of the rear of the trailer would not change those. The landlady has decided to charge them not only for her wasted time at the house, but now they are paying $24 a day for storage for the stuff they left.

Still no word from the driver, but we are in daily contact with N/R, to find out what they plan to do about all of this mess.

So, now their response is that if the weight of the load is below the estimated amount they originally gave us, it would be considered an overload, and they would go back and get the stuff, but we may have to pay the trucking company for their expenses. Surprise Surprise.

So now they are waiting for the drivers scale tickets to be faxed to them, and gee whiz, they are having trouble getting ahold of the driver, he won't return any of their calls. They finally get the scale tickets from the driver, and I get a call today, that our weight is now 7,000 lbs for their stuff, and it is going to cost us not the $2900 they originally told us, but now our balance is going to be $4700.

BS..........I told them I wasn't paying it until I seen the scale tickets from the driver, and when they stuff is delivered, we are going to do another weigh, before we unload, and another after we unload. The drivers were supposed to be here today, as contracted, but guess what? They didn't show up.

My daughter gets on the internet, and finds all of this information, and almost cries, figuring her stuff is history. Why is the law letting these guys keep getting away with this stuff. They must be stopped.

Why no class action suits yet? People we need to band together and get these crooks out of the business.
