On May 8, 2012 I received an email from NetSpend thanking me for a $250 donation that I supposedly made to the March of Dimes. I believed the email may be a scam of some sort so just to be sure I checked my balance online unfortunately the money did indeed come out of my account.

I contacted NetSpend immediately after I was not able to file a dispute online. To my disbelief I was informed by the agent that he was also unable to file a claim on the donation and I was advised to contact the March of Dimes. When I asked the agent for the details of the transaction he informed that the only details was the time and date of the transaction.

I then called the March of Dimes donation line (this was the only department open at the time). The lady was very nice and took my information for a call back. The next day I then contacted NetSpend again and spoke with a supervisor and then the escalations department. I was told by both that it was no way for them to reverse the transaction, the lady in escalations did seem concerned and showed empathy, but was still unable to rectify the situation.

I spok with NetSpend and the March of dimes several times during this time the March of Dimes said that they have no record of a donation from me. NetSpend closed my account and said it could be reopened within 5 days. Unfortunately the next day I went to put gas in my car and my card to my totally separate NetSpend account was cancelled as well after I had taken the rest of my money out of the now closed account and put it into this one. I then received a text from NetSpend saying the card was not activated( I had been using the card for weeks after losing the old one). I called NetSpend and asked them why was the card not active the lady (who was very rude) told me the account was closed because I closed it online. I told her that was not true and she told me I must have closed the account by "accident" by clicking the link online. I was also told that I must have made the donation by accident.

When I asked the agent what happened to the money that was in the account she told me I had a ZERO balancebefore the account was closed. I became absolutely OUTRAGED! She then put the phone on mute for 20 mins after I asked for a supervisor (I worked in a call center before, I know what goes on). I finally found the number to the corporate office and I will be calling until I get an answer on Monday.
