This company contacted me by phone on October 2, 2008 and solicited me for a 3 month trial on their website which would also include their reps calling new businesses in my area and recommending my services to them. At the time I asked the phone rep "Angie" angie@newbusinesschat.com 3 times what my protected area would be and she each time said "Illinois" I immediately filled out their ad copy online. Their charge for 3 months was $285.00 upfront. After awhile I noticed that my ad never appeared on the website and they always had some excuse even at one point saying they had lost it and had me redo it. Still nothing. Also (much to her regret I'm sure) "Rhonda" rhonda@newbusinesschat.com emailed a phony update to myself and others and probably hit "cc" on her email instead of "bcc" so several of us now had each others' contact info. As we emailed each other we found out that no leads had been produced and no one had yet to see their ad on the New Business Association site. Any calls from them come not from an office but personal phone numbers. Do NOT give this company any of your money. If you have been ripped off by them contact the Federal Trade Commission and fill out a complaint form online https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and contact your bank or credit card company and have the charges reversed which is your right under Federal Regulation E.

New Business Association- Indeed a fraud

We feel for everyone that signed up with this company. We worked for New Business Association and it was suddenly closed down a few weeks ago because the owner was in a lot of financial trouble. He didn't even have the money to make payroll and apparently tried to disappear without paying some peoples' wages. We found out it was a scam just recently and are currently doing what is necessary to make this known.
About the calls that were promised in the service plan -- no calls were made and no leads were ever obtained. There wasn't even a staff to make those calls. The ads were created, however, but they were being put on a website that was never viewed by any new businesses. We, as former employees, were always promised that those calls were going to be made and that our customers were going to get the business they deserved, but it never happened.
If anyone else is reading this that signed up for the New Business Association's services, probably the only way to get your money back is to have your bank reverse the charges. If you explain the circumstances they should be able to do that for you. We would also encourage you to report this business here and elsewhere so that others affected by this can try and get their money back.
We are terribly sorry that this happened to you and hope that you will all be able to get your funds back. For future reference, please do not trust phone solicitors unless you know the company personally (location, background, etc) and do not give your credit card information out over the phone. We as ex-employees have learned a valuable lesson as well.
