www.newsmax.com was offering a free copy of "Aftershock" written by David and Robert Wiedemer, and Cindy Spitzer (you pay just under 5.00 for shipping). They included a free "trial" to a bunch of other publications. These turned out to be as worthless as the book. I called to cancel. NO answer. I emailed to cancel, no confirmation.

I was then charged 49.00 on the card I used to pay the shipping. I called to complain, left message. No return call. It even says on the website AND on their voicemail NOT to call your Credit Card company, they offer FULL refunds. BULL. I have now been calling every other day, left numerous messages, emails, used their online form. NOTHING. There is no one ever available to speak w/ me.

I'm very upset and on top of that, I don't want to continue to get charged! I have notified my bank of this fraud. My banker said it's the second time he's seen the name news max in conjunction w/ Franklin prosperity report listed as fraud.

Bad people, shame on them and any advertisers who support them.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Newsmax, Aftershock...

AUTHOR: Tova - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, December 07, 2012

Having read how difficult, (=impossible), and time-consuming it was for one consumer to contact Newsmax regarding his subscription, I'm not even going to bother to try. This is what I do, (and "I've been there, done that" before):

I want to cancel my subscription. I want no further withdrawals ("subscrition renewals") from the account I used for the initial purchase.

Just make sure there is not enough money in that account, just leave $5 to keep the account active, no need to close the account. Just use another account (I assume you have other accounts in the same bank as well) to pay regularly occurring expenses. If you DON'T have other accounts now is the time to establish this safety net. When the deadline for Newsmax to try to extract money for the initial account is well past, you could start using that account again in a normal way. Or just keep it as is as a "scam-proof" account.

If you should want to use your "spam-proof" account to buy something, (hoping it is not a scam, but it might turn ou to be), simply transfer enough money to cover that purchase from your other account. It just takes a second, banking online. Easy as pie. Good Luck.
