My client found the Non-Profit Alliance of Consumer Advocates (NACA) online for help with his mortgage payment. They described a forensic audit to him and kept telling him they would have an attorney, John E. Mortimer (CA law license #130526) aggressively take my client's lender to court.
NACA told my client to stop making mortgage payments, so he did. NACA staff also said he had to send money before work would start on his modification. Finally, my client was given a contract to sign.
This group has a web site that makes all kinds of promises and has some legitimate information on it. NACA did not write any of the legitimate information. instead NACA got the legitimate material for the web site from various newspapers. Many of the articles advise consumers to avoid businesses that operate exactly like NACA.

Peter Nisson ws disciplined by the California court for running a mortgage rescue scam. He was ordered to pay restitution.
Nonprofit Alliance of Community Advocates says he is their layer. NACA directs consumer questions to him. There are complaints about NACA online going back years.
If you have a problem paying your mortgage call HUD. That is the US Housing and Urban Development department. HUD can give you a list of legitimate resources.

California BAR ASSN recovered $$ from this scam
AUTHOR: - ()

A complaint to the State Bar of California about this situation, resulted in a full refund for my client. The check arrived last year.
Be careful of anyone who promises to get you a lower mortgage payment. Even attorneys run this scam. Check the Federal Trade Commission web site for more information on how to avoid scams. Do not respond to the pop-up boxes online. Find someone in your own state - preferably in your own city - if you need help. Make sure they have a real office wth real employees - no just an address and a phone number.

I don’t believe this allegation is from a real customer—I’ve never had a customer of this description nor would we ever treat a customer in this way. If this was a customer that lived in our area and happened to move to Wisconsin (from the best of my knowledge none of our clients have), I’m sorry you’ve had a bad experience, and how can we make it right?” Our customer relations department can be reached at customerrelations@nacalaw.org. Any paperwork that you may have will have our number in it and we will assist you without cost to remedy this situation.
