North Texas Tollway Authority - NTTA Charged fees and added fines with balance on account! Dallas Texas

The NTTA toll system read my licence plate and charged a toll on two occasions. The vehicle was added to my account. In spite of a balance of almost $100 in my account, the toll ($1.76) was not deducted from my account but was sent out as a bill. Even though the vehicle shows up in their system under my account, their system will not automatically pay the toll. Instead they add fines and fees to the toll and escalate the $3.52 charge to over $38 and then turn it over for collection. All the while a positive balance of almost $100 was sitting in the account! Their system even automatically adds their required charge increment whenever my balance falls below a rather large predetermined amount. When I called, the representative said there was nothing they could do because "That's the way our system works". Even the supervisor, Chaka R (wouldn't give me her full last name) refused to resolve the issue. I was forced to pay the additional $38 even though there was, and still remains, a balance of almost $100 on my account.

Their system obviously knows me, my account and all my vehicles, yet fails to pay the toll out of my account. All the time the system automatically pays tolls when it reads the tolltag for this vehicle or any of my many other vehicles and pulls money from my account to keep a relatively large balance. They obviously have my permission to pay tolls incurred from my account yet, due to a poorly designed system, they don't pay an outstanding balance from the funds they have on hand. Why are they sitting on my money if it isn't to automatically pay tolls?!? They have been well aware of this deficiency in their system yet they have failed to resolve this for many years now. Further, they refused to waive the fees in spite of the obvious deficiency in their system, which they clearly admit exists. Were it any normal business, I would simply refuse to pay. But, unfortunately, they turned bills over to the Department of Public Safety (DPS) for collection, which causes this insanity to be enforced by law officials.
