NORTHRIDGE TOYOTA PARTS DEPT OVERCHARGES MULTIPLE PRICING NORTHRIDGE California

This new car Toyota dealership overcharges for parts. I called one day and was given a price. I walked in the next day and was given another price. I took my car in for service a few days later on the problem, and it was another price. Each time going higher and higher. All for the exact same part. I retained the part number from the first interaction and verified it on the part as most Toyota parts have the part number on them. Well, low and be-hold, i was able to squeeze some information out from an employee. This employee told me that it was no surprise and correct.

This person further told me that the personnel in the parts dept are, in some cases, soley on commsion. Thus, explaining to me they are out for their own intrest and not the customers. I called other local dealers to find a differant price at each and everyone of them. When i questioned one of the dealers about this, i was told that they are all independently owned and operated and none had to do what the other does, to an extent of course. And this includes pricing. Well, in the end, i paid the highest price overall at this dealer. I guess i should have done my homework first. But beaware that this dealer DOES overcharge on parts, and may i suggest to anyone taking their car in there for service to "shop around" first. It is your right. Also shop around for parts too.
