Nutra Life Brands is refusing to issue me a full refund for their Garcinia Cambogia and Detox Max products, after using deceptive advertising practices to lure me in.
Here's what happened- On Jan 14, 2015, I was on a website, and I thought that I must have accidently clicked on a link in the sidebar (now I know that I was hijacked), because I was redirected to another website with information about Garcinia Cambogia, the weight loss supplement.
I remember thinking that the website seemed legitimate; it appeared to be a news outlet or online magazine, because I recall that the name sounded familiar. Now I cannot find that website or landing page using any key words that would normally bring up the result in Google- this is obviously very suspicious. I now believe that Nutra Life Brand uses black hat methods to hijack your browser from legitimate websites, in order to push their misleading ads about the so-called "free trial offer".
While on the site, I read the article regarding this product, which was a review of how skeptical they were initially and how well it worked for one of their staff members. They also showcased videos of Christina Aguilera on a late night talk show, and Dr oz, who both touted the benefits of the products.
Now, I'm not one to try diet pills or fad weight loss products, because I believe in a healthy lifestyle and working out for effective weight management. However, this one caught my attention because it was comprised of all natural ingredients, such as herbs, minerals, etc... So, it was basically a supplement, rather than chemicals. The other thing that peaked my interest was the fact that they said you could try the product for "free" for 30 days, and you would simply have to pay for shipping ($6.95) per bottle- a small price to pay for something that may or may not work, but didn't appear to have ingredients that would harm anyone.
I clicked on the link to check it out even further, and the landing page for Nutra Life Brands appeared. There was no mention of a payment on either page, other than the shipping charge. I also received Order Confirmation emails for each product, as well as a Shipping Confirmation email, and none of the 3 emails contianed any information regarding additional charges or being signed up for a "monthly membership" for the products.
I will say that I received the product as agreed, and within a few days time. However, that is where their reputable business practices end.
After receiving my credit card statement on Feb 5, 2015, I realized that the company had charged me an additional $79.50 for the Garcinia Cambogia and $78.20 for the Detox Max. I contacted the company immediately, and explained that I did not agree to additional charges, nor was I informed of additional charges that would take place.
I was told, by the customer service rep, that I was being charged for the "product in my possession". Of course, I asked for an explanation, and she explained to me that the "trial offer" was only for 14 days of product, and that they had sent me a 45 day supply, so I would need to pay the difference for the extra supplements that I received. She also said that this was explained in the "terms and conditions" section of their site.
An argument ensued and she offered only a partial refund of approx $30 per bottle. I explained that this was not sufficient, considering that they had deceived me. She denied that this is a scam, and refused to refund any additional amount, so I told her that I would take it up with my credit card company.
By the way- I only ended up using the products for 2 days because they made me sick. I initially thought that it was something I ate, or that I was getting the flu that's been going around, but when I discontinued the product on the 3rd day, I felt 100% better.

i had the same experience. Nothing in the free trial says one would automatically charged so much for both items. When I asked for the refund, they said you tried it. But, it's a free trial. This is faulty practices!!!!
Unbelievable!! I have the receipt and paperworK!
i am also filing a police report! I know what a signed up for.
Sorry this his happened to you. I know how horrible it feels to be scammed!!

The we page and terms and conditions that must be checked off and agreed to CLEARLY STATE the full price of the product AFTER THE FREE TRIAL EXPIRES!! I don't understand why so many of you had such issues when information is provided I ordered products called the company and read petted a promotional price for each bottle at only $19 per bottle!! I thought that was great concidering the full price . I think most of the complaints are rediculous concidering all info is there before you ever sign up. Learn to read before you sign up for anything online!!

I agree with the other comments at no time did the offer state that you are joining or agreeing to any type of membership. I am very skeptical and always read the fine print. However I read all the fine print in this offer and it did not mention any additional costs. so as it was only $6.95 I figured it was safe to risk such a small amount of money. Then about 2 weeks later I had just under$160 removed from my bank account..I immediately emailed the company as it was after hours and they refused to cancel my membership unless they actually spoke with me on the phone. So I called and I got the same "free trial" crap but I told her that I would return the unopened bottles and wanted my money back. She said that would be OK and that she would cancel my membership and email me the info to return the bottles. But that was over 2 weeks ago and I have yet to get my money back or recieve an email regarding the return info. Stay away!!

I had exactly the same experience as the first writer. When I received the huge jars of product, I had a suspicion that all was not right, so I didn't open either of them. Then my Doctor told me that I could absolutley not take these pills because of my high blood pressure, so I put them on my desk and soon they charged my account for the full supply. So I called, got an RMA number and they said that the refund would take 2-4 weeks after they received the return.
That was on December 16, 2014. Since then, I have repeatedlly emailed them, without one single response. I have a tracking number that apparently is invalid. My next stop is the Iowa Attorney General's office.

The same exact thing happened to me. I could have written the above letter. I was not shopping for the product but a pop up led me to a free trial site. I searched and searched and searched for the scam but was surprised to see it was really free and the only thing I had to pay for was shipping.
Nowhere on the scam site did it say I was signing up for a trial, that I was allowing this company to use my personal information to charge my credit card. They claim the only way to stop them from charging you is to call, yet I was on hold forever, even one day for twenty two minutes, which I taped the minutes ticking by with my ipod!
I was told the same "blah-blah-blah" crap as the above consumer. They try to make it like we all signed up. This is not true. The only thing I clicked on/checked off was that I was at least 18 years old. The "Terms & Conditions" page never opened because as soon as you check that box, you are taken to another page. This is where the scam begins. They post "screenshots" of the "Terms and Conditions" that are "right there in plain view". Don't buy it. They are lying.
Attention lawyers, attorney general of Florida and anyone else who is interested in stopping deceiptful scam websites, please investigate. Please, please, investigate this scam.
