My husband and I had been renters the whole time we have been married up til about 3 years ago, we decided we would try to buy a home, since we could have already owned one with all the rent we had payed in the past years. We had a problem though we had bad credit and had went to several mobile home dealerships and got denied.

We came upon Oakwood Mobile homes and thought well it's worth one more shot. The salesman showed us a repoed home that was in our price range, when I first saw the home I was disgusted with it, because it was simply horrible, holes in the wall, carpet stained, windows broke, ect ect. I immediatly refused saying there was no way I would live in this home, but he insisted he could get the repairmen to have it looking new. He gave me a piece of paper and pen, told me to go through and write down all the problems I seen with the home. There was and endless amount of problems with this home but he reassured me that this could all be fixed before I moved in.

Our home was to be moved exactly one month after we had made the down payment on it, when it was getting close to time for it to be moved, approx 1 week before, I started getting curious so we went to take a peek at our new home. To my suprise the only thing that had been done was very little painting the windows that were busted had not been fixed or none of the other major repairs had been made. Once again the salesman reassured me that this wasnt a problem that the men had been delayed but he promised that the work would b finished.

I went back to the lot the day before my home was to be moved and one of the repairmen was still painting (still the only thing that had been done) he advised us that it would take us at least another month to get all this work done, and suggested that we talked to the salesman about moving the delivery date, but we had already gave our landlord notice that we were moving and after paying down payment on the mobile home and renting a lot we didnt have the money to delay this move any longer.

When they moved our mobile home the only thing that had been done was the painting (which was a patch job) we had no keys to our home, the stained carpet was still in it and it still looked like "crap" to me, but I had no other choice with 4 kids and cold weather coming in than to just bear the burden of waiting on the repairs.

In the 3 years we lived in the home the only thing oakwood did for us was replace the carpet that they had told us they would do, my husband had to buy new doorknobs in order for us to be able to lock our doors and feel safe in our own home.

After a while in the mobile home we just got so fed up with it we didnt care if we were late on our payments, obviously they didnt care if we were satisfied customers anyways, then we started getting all the hounding phone calls from the customer service reps and we would tell them about all the things not fixed as promised, we were told they would look into it but of course nothing was ever done. The last yr of living hell in this home I had several phone conversations with one of the "Loss Mitiagation" reps,MIA TURNEY, that was very rude and hateful threats were made of reposession, which at this point I didn't care, exspecially since I found out that I was paying $300 more for the home repoed than the people did when they bought it new.

Anyways to make a long and grusome story short OAKWOOD got their home back and my family and I live in a very nice farm house with our peace of mind. One word of advice to anyone reading these rip offs, dont go to oakwood homes, they are built crappy and are not worth the money you spent on gas to go look at them.
