Oakwood Acceptance Corp Ripped off 8 yrs after the fact Clarksville Tennessee

In 1998 I was stationed at FT Campbell Ky and bought a home from oakwood moble homes there.It seemed like a good deal at the time.They set the home up at a park which they owned and got an extra $125 a month in lot rent.

When I qualified for on base housing in 2000 ,my wife and I were renting our trailer to a friend who had recently divorce and was trying to buy the trailer from us.Even though oakwoods local dealer owned the lot we were told that we could not sublease the home.

At this point no payments were missed . So now I have no housing allowance because I live on post and I am expected to pay for a home I'm not living in.

This is when the harrassing phone calls started and after about 6 months a representative called from oakwood and said that I could do a " volentary buyback" with oakwood where they take the trailer back and resale it and I would owe them nothing nor would I get any money if they sold it for more than was owed.I said fine anything to stop the calls.this happened in late 2000 early 2001.

Now it's 2008 and I get a phone call from a lawyer saying that my now ex-wife and I owe $16000 to oakwood because the trailer wasn't resold till 2006.

I hope that I can make some arrangement to pay this because thanks to divorce my credit is already shakey to say the least.So if anyone from oakwood calls and sugests a similar plan don't do it because in the end is exactly where oakwood will stick you.
