oan uses third party billing thru phone companies to rip off consumers, a mystery charge occurs on my verizon bill, verizon says they have no choice but to bill the charges, it is my account and i have not authorized 3rd party billing, contact oan and they say they are 3rd party billing for some other company which they have no info on, oan gets an email address and matches it to aphone number the n they make up a company and start billing services, if you dispute they say you ordered the service but will cancel the service if threatened enough, then bill again next month for a different fmade up service.

a lawsuit needs to be filed against OAN for fraud, and also filed against the phone companies for allowing this to happen without approval of the consumer. Maybe everyone should let these bills go to collections and then you can also sue the collection agency, OAN, and verizon or other phone company for trying to collect a false debt per the fair debt collection act.

I'm sure the phone companies get a percentage of all the 3rd party billing for providing the billing service, so that is why they will do nothing to fix this, in the end they will lose customers, fix their books till they ask congress for a bailout.

I just found the OAN charge for Premium Voice Mail on the last page of my bill in small letters and was furious. I had never heard of the company.

I called the 800 number given and got an boiler room in "Tarpon Springs, Florida". I was furious and they immediately apologized and told me they would give me a refund. I asked for their physical address but "Carlos" would only give me a PO Box number. I asked to speak to a supervisor and got another "Carlos" who told me twice if he refunded my money within days, as a special favor, (as a credit on phone bill) would I be satisfied to stop my complaint and close the case. It turns out I had been getting billed for six months. Hardly anyone looks at the last page of their phone bill.

The rebuttal above this one is from Florida of course. Wonder who?

as a regulated local landline companyVerizon has to allow the billing.the company that sends the bill is informing verizon that you authorized the payment and yes this normally doeas happen because someone enters your phone number while they are on the net. What can be done is those charges can be sent back to the company and a bill block can be set up on your account so no third party companies will no longer be able to bill you. We get tons of these calls and unfortunately our hands are tied. You would still need to contact that company to cease billing. I am on the front line and I see these quite often and as long as the internet is unregulated will continue to see them . tjat is their loophole because we are regulated and therefore have to allow third party companies to bill. i hope this helps.
