You should ALWAYS check and see who the college is accredited by. Many employers and most grad schools want to see an undergraduate degree issued by a college accredited by one of the regional agencies. You can always check the Department of Education website to get more information on that.  As a previous poster stated, many, if not most, reputable colleges and universities have an online program. However, these are not the same as the primarily (or only) online schools. University of Pheonix is one of the rare exceptions that actually has reputable programs. And be forewarned that any credit awarded by one of the non-reputable colleges (as in the OPs report) will not transfer to a traditional college. When in doubt, ask the "receiving" school if they will accept transfer credit from Belford, Ashwood, etc. Chances are, they won't.

Come on people... read what the man wrote. There are many fine universities that have extensions, home education and online divisions. They all require you to study and learn stuff. They will often give you credit for "life experience" but they will NOT give you a degree just for filling out a form and sending them a few hundred dollars. Real education and real accreditation are valuable.
The "universities" listed here have invented their own "accrediting" companies which are not the same as organizations that accredit say... Brown, Harvard or Penn State for instance.
If you tried to pass one of these "degrees" off in applying for a serious employment position, the H.R. person would snicker and throw your app. in the trash.
There are horror stories galore of people who have spent years moving up in a company only to have everything come crashing down when it's discovered their "degree" came from a "diploma mill."
These are "diploma mills", pure and simple. They skirt the fraud laws by the skin of their teeth. If you want to buy one of their very expensive pieces of paper and hang it on your wall, fine. That's about all it's good for.
By the way... how many of you negative responders are actually working for a diploma mill? Hmmm??

Here is what Wikipedia says about Lifelong learning, It is the pursuit of knowledge for either personal or professional reasons. As such, it not only enhances social inclusion, active citizenship and personal development, but also competitiveness and employability. The same holds true for life experience degrees as well. This complain is just a vendetta nothing else.

This guy is lying pure and simple. He is venting his personal frustrations here. I guess the authorities should review these ripoff reports and should verify their authenticity. By the looks of it I guess Mikey owns a fake business himself.

This website ( onlineeducationalfacts.com ) is simply advertising its own mirror sites. It is completely biased and no useful information. If you want a life experience degree, go for it. I simply suggest you find a reputable company to issue it. And, none of these would be my choice:

These are all the same company ! I would not buy from one of these. Look for more reputable ones.

What is a "life experience degree"? You don't say they claim to give you an A.A. or something like that. I have nearly completed an A.A. online through a local college. I feel that you are not fairly speaking about online degrees. You could deter someone who could get a legit degree online like I have. I feel that you are getting what they are offering on this site. You may not have understood what it was all about. Hopefully you did not give money if you didn't understand it.
