The Story of how I was Scammed…

Have you ever heard of this Company, OnTeslo.com?

I have been scammed by this company, OnTesol.com. They took my money and after my money was received, the honeymoon was over and reality sat in.

Before spending my money, I wanted to try and make sure I could actually complete their course materials. Their site expressly stated that no prior experience was necessary and that I could learn what was required directly from their course materials.

They started out with grammar which I’m very poor with and just couldn’t get it. This material was way over my head but my tutor encouraged me to keep going. After over two months, I completed the exam with a score of 79%

A week later, I was injured and could not continue my studies due to my pain. I realized that I would not be able to complete this course, due in part to my injuries and time. The time allotted was not enough for me to complete this course.

Now please correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the definition of a scam, someone who takes your money and gives you nothing in return?

The concepts found in their course materials can be studied freely online for those willing to do the research. So why, might you ask did I spend $1,295 Canadian dollars for this course? The answer is simple, for the paper (certificate, diploma) that proves to an Employer that you have the necessary credentials for the job.

In fact, I received no such certificate, but they did get my money which they now refuse to refund. Now my money is gone and there isn’t even a piece of paper to show for it, zero, nothing!

I checked their website several times looking for a listing of their policies and procedures and found nothing. In their site map, nothing at all is listed. I took a copy of their site map for future reference in the event they should try and change this in the future.

When this whole issue of a refund came up, Lucas was quick to show me a section of his policies and procedures that he felt would absolve him of the need to issue me a refund.

Let it be known that although I did receive a document relating to his policies and procedures as I recently confirmed from researching my past emails, nothing was ever said to me by this company about reading their policies or verifying that I had received them. Also, I never signed such a contractual document. This whole thing was done very covertly as if it was hoped I wouldn’t notice and it worked because I didn’t.

That said, as I understand it, according to the law, even if I had signed such a contract, it would be invalid since no one can sign away their right to enjoy the protections of existing laws that prohibit scamming.

The law doesn’t allow any company  to take monies from customers without providing products and/or services of reasonably equal value, this is fraud.

After reading this, how do you feel? Was he fair? Would you enjoy loosing your money in this way? What goes around, comes around. It’s only a matter of time. For full details on this story, please visit - https://sooltha.wordpress.com/

Randy Barber - False / Libel

AUTHOR: Lucas - (Canada)

POSTED: Friday, May 05, 2017

Randy Barber accepted an agreement at the time of enrollment that states a refund does not apply after 7 days of enrollment or after submitting the first exam. The agreement is posted on the enrollment form before the candidate clicks the submit button. This is standard procedure in the industry (The University of Toronto has a 0 refund policy from day one) as the student gets access to the material after enrollment and the company incurs costs by assigning a personal tutor. The policy is there to prevent theft as well as deter lazy people from taking the course and wasting administrative resources. The program is very rigorous, as it meets the standards for TESL Canada Standard 2 accreditation and is at the same level offered by many Canadian universities. This advanced course trains people to develop a full curriculum and be able to eventually run ESL schools, so we do not want to waste our time with candidates who do not want to study or want to take a quick course like the ones offered on Groupon. The candidate must accept the terms and conditions prior to submitting the enrollment form, so the candidate can take the course elsewhere if he/she does not want to accept the terms. Once enrolled in the course, the candidate is responsible for studying through the rigorous program and passing all assignments. The terms and conditions accepted at the time of enrollment are sent via e-mail to ensure transparency.

This is an accredited program and meets the standards for TESL Canada accreditation, which oversees and approves courses offered by Universities, Colleges, and private institutes in Canada. Mr. Barber was provided with all the material and the tutor support he needed to pass the course and receive the certificate, but he showed on several instances that did not want to study. He complained of the course being difficult from the beginning because he was probably expecting an easy course. He then submitted the first exam within a reasonable time and passed with 78%.

The messages he sent to his tutor clearly shows that he did not want to study:

1- "I have taken the time to do my best on this difficult exam.

Please note that if I have failed this exam, I do not wish to retake it as I have already don't my best from the beginning.

Basically, this means that I will not continue this course in the event of failure to pass this exam."

2- When he got to methodology, Mr Barber decided to drop the course:

"this material is very challenging to me and I cannot complete this course within the next 5.5 months."

He was kindly encouraged to continue and was told he could have extra time if he submitted medical documentation. Furthermore, we solved a technical issue he was experienceing with videos because he is in China and You Tube does not work there. We could have solved the issue earlier if he contacted admin as mentioned to him in the activation letter. Mr. Barber proceeded to threaten Ontesol.com inc with libel in order to get a refund and then proceeded to engage in libel. The words scam and ripoff used on several occasions are false because Mr. Barber clearly did not want to study and he is engaging in libel with the intent to harass and threaten the company to enable him to get off the agreement he accepted.
