Window installion good. Paint work was awful. Painters caused roof damage, painted only what could be seen from ground level.  Oversprayed  patio, & patio chair.  Paint on swithes, light fixtures, door handles.

Charged credit card before any work complete.  Required 50% deposit, which I learned illegal & 10% standard.

Company website claims they have own factory, but apparently dont.  State licence 925082 claims exempt from Workman comp, insurance because dont have employees.

What was supposed to be few days became weeks of problems.  Painters were obviusly inexperienced. They did discount $1600 final payment. but roof & other damaged found later.  it cost $900 to do & redo paint work.

A few weeks later it was subequently learned they had only plastered & painted the froent & sides of chimney, NOT the back as well as damaged roof tiles.  This cost an additional  $1100 to have done.

This company's  response is utter horse pucky, full of multiple untruths, and misinformation, too numerous to enumerate.

I do not have a mental disorder, or suffer from confusion.

This amounts to defamation of character.

I am a retired police detective, following 30 years service.

This company submitted a hand written invoices which did not show their state license number.  I was never rude to these people.

After problems began to develop, I made sure to have a witness present during any contact with Mr Brooks or  Mr Harrison.

Furthermore, I have maintained copy of all exchanged e-mail.

I have numerous pictures of the problem paint matters.

This company provided good window installation.

But painting not their forte.  Painters didnt use drop cloths, there was over spray on walks, yard chairs, plants.  Didnt mask, paint on light fixtures, light switch plates, door knobs, etc.  They asked for 50% deposit before work begun, I was unaware at that time, 10% was the norm.  They charged paint balance to my credit card  before painting completed, however they did correct this by applying it to window installation balance.

They agreed to do certain paint matters, not shown on the invoice.  Before painting commenced, I questioned the omission and was assured not to worry.

I never ever refused to pay, except for work not properly done or finished.  Which instead of doing, they OFFERED to reduce paint balance due, AND not repair garage side door frame theyd broken (door sitting outside), not remove paint from light fixtures, or fromfront door brass, or paint places not painted, etc, etc.

On having roof checked before rain season, I learned painters had only painted & stuccoed chimney parts visible from ground, front & sides, NOT the back.  Plus roof tiles repaired by same roofer 18 months earleir had newly damaged tiles.

It cost $1100 to paint & stucco back of chimney, repair damaged tiles.

After advising Orange County Craftsman I would consider Small Claims suit, the company reimbursed $800.

I hardly think, expecting decent agreed work warrants describing me as a disturbing and dumbfounding person.

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

Senile and possibly Alzheimer's...

AUTHOR: OCC, INC. - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 15, 2010

I am the President and owner of Orange County Craftsman, Inc. I have been in the Construction Industry for 22 years. I have never dealt with a person that was so confused and rude in the same breath...

After our initial visit with the customer my staff warned me that the customer seemed to have some kind of mental disorder. We were called back to do a basic window replacement. We obliged. We are a window factory and the factory has been making windows since 1978. Also the previously mentioned contractors licensed number is incorrect, like most of the info in the original report.

After the original order we were called back to quote a standard exterior paint job. The customer already had a paid work order for another painter to do the work. We explained that we would not want to interfere with the other work order from the other company and she would have to cancel that order first. She said to write up the work order and she would cancel the other job. So we indulged.

Our first day on the job, prior to any work whatsoever my crew was asked to a number of smaller painting tasks that was not part of the work order. My crew said they would need "approval from the boss" (Me) I approved the additional work at NO CHARGE. It seemed basic enough, paint a few cabinets, some walls in the garage, etc. This turned into a list of extras being added on that exceeded $3K in work that the customer refused to pay for...

The customer also claimed the primary paint was the wrong color, she picked the same color that was on the home originally, we matched it EXACTLY! We repainted the entire house AGAIN! She still refused to pay. We stopped all work and asked for our final payment. We collected only $1800 for $5K worth of labor and materials already completed. At that point we wanted to just walk away and be done.

I must admit my paint crew attempted to paint some black rod iron fencing and gates that was an "add-on" and they turned out pretty bad. We offered to refund $1600 to cover the items... She refused to pay again.

Four months after we stopped the job. We get a letter claiming we broke over $1K of roof tiles and she wants a refund.  I was dumbfounded at this idiocy. We debated filing harassment and liable case against the customer but we wanted to avoid legal actions. OCC, Inc. and its lawyers decided to end any and all matters with this person. We offered $800 in exchange for NEVER contacting us in this matter again and to never disparage our company ever again.

22 Years in the business I have dealt with a lot of people but this one is the strangest as well as the most disturbing and dumbfounding.
