In July I attended a concert for the rock group Heart at the Pacific Ampitheater on the OC fair grounds. My mom and i left the house at 7 pm for the 8 pm concert. We were there in 20 mins. However it took us an hour and a half to find parking therefore missing most of the concert and only getting to see an hour of it. All the gates to the fair parking were closed and we were directed by the signs they set up in the street to go to A or B street for parking only to find those were closed as well. We ended up parking at the local community college a few streets away. By then having missed most of the concert.

When we finally got to the ampitheater we asked who we could speak to about getting our money back and we were told that "thats just how the parking is, it's the fair" My mom replied to them that we werent going to the fair, we were going to the concert and didn't they have separate concert parking. The response was no.

It's now november and we have been trying to get our money back since july. We have called and written letters only to be given the run around or not received a call back.

Cut Expenses

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, November 11, 2005

I suspect both the concert people and the fair organizers were attempting to save on overhead by putting on two events and only using one group of security and attendants. That way the concert people could say "It's the fair" and the fair people could say "It's the concert", which is what you were told when you complained. They have those ampitheathers here in town. Where else can you spend a fortune to stand out in the heat/cold/rain, maybe sit in a seat but probably sit on the grass. They're situated out in the sticks, where land is cheap, there is no easy access, it takes forever to get to them on crappy two lane roads. Whatever happened to the old days? As long as you people put up with that BS, they'll serve it.

Better yet Steve

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, November 11, 2005

Why don't "special"people like Stephanie call ahead as to when she will be arriving and they can have her"special valet" waiting for her to park her car so that she won't be inconvenienced.

Those concerts are a part of the fair. There are reserved seats and free sitting on the green for the people that have paid their way into the fair. If the fair wasn't going on there would probably have not been a concert. That's why a minor artist like Heart even got the gig. Fairs are the only place that the old groups like them are able to find work.

Solution to your problem

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, November 11, 2005

Next time, why not just park on the street in front of the concert and go right in?

I am sure the City will find you an approriate parking space - in the Impound Yard.

I AM OVER IT

AUTHOR: Stephanie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 10, 2005

My point im trying to make is that there was no parking system what so ever. It was complete chaos that even if i had the time to get there early parking still would have been a problem. Unless any of you have personally been to the OC Fair none of you have the right to judge or call names. People who had gotten their early still had the same problem as i did. THIS CONCERT WAS NOT PART OF THE FAIR, but as a separate program being held at the same location. Therefore since i bought the tickets from ticketmaster and not from the fair they should provide adequate parking. To which they did not. I can see that i wont be getting my money back but if your going to put on a concert you should follow through with all aspects of it.

YOU WANT TO TALK RIP-OFF?

AUTHOR: Sherri - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 10, 2005

How about $8.50 for a shot of tequila? That seems to be prevalent at most of the fairs (I own a couple of racehorses, so I usually get to them at least once).

I had VIP parking at Shoreline..I still had enough sense to get there in plenty of time (about 2 hours before). I have never known any of the fairs to have special parking for concerts.

I think you need to get over it and find something of significance to stress out about.

I AGREE WITH STEPHANIE

AUTHOR: David - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 10, 2005

I'VE TO EVENTS AT THE OC FAIR BEFORE, AND PARKING SUCKS. THE SIGNS LEAD YOU TO PARKING LOT THAT ARE CLOSED. AND BY THE TIME YOU FIND A PLACE TO PARK THE DAY IS WASTED. UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN THERE YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE CALLING ANYONE STUPID. THE FAIR SHOULD BE BETTER ORGANIZED IF THEIR GOIN TO HAVE BIG NAMED ARTIST PERFORM.

Clarify

AUTHOR: Stephanie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 10, 2005

You may agree with him but that doesent give him the right to call anyone stupid. I need to clarify a few things here.

I bought the tickets from ticketmaster in april for the july concert. There was no mention of the fair going on at the same time. The venue that it was held at was on the fair grounds but it is not part of the fair. Therefore they should have their own parking. Some people were not attendiing the fair just the concert so why should they have to compete with the fair goers. Bottom line is concert venues should have their own parking. I can see that i wont be getting my money back but it would be nice not to be getting the run around or not even a response back when i do try to complain. And as for the leaving earlier concept i lived less than half an hour away from the venue, why should i leave hours earlier just to sit around til showtime. I dont think im special but come on. Because of the fairs lack of a parking system and organization i almost missed out on seeing my favorite band. Now you may not agree with me but youd probably feel the same way too.

Yes I Think Im Special

AUTHOR: Stephanie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 10, 2005

First of all this is a site to report bad business. You have either have a complaint or a rebuttal. You dont come on here just to call some one stupid. Obviously you have never been to a concert before or else you would know they have their own concert parking. If your going to put on a big name act at a venue you should have clearly marked parking and traffic attendants to help direct traffic. Not just one big free for all like the OC Fair. I left my house at 7 pm for the 8 pm concert arrivng at the outside gates at 720 pm. Leaving more then enough time to find parking. It shouldnt have taken an hour and a half to find a parking lot and it being so far away they should have had a shuttle service. And if they had parking clearly marked i would have been on time for the concert. Staples Center has their own parking, House of Blues has their own parking, The Arrowhead Pond has their own parking, all these place have big name performers coming there and i never had any problem parking at those events. Point being if your going to have a big name act at your venue have parking for it. And yes even if the fair might not agree with me it would be nice to get a call back from them or something. I have not gotten anything and i feel cheated.

Agree with John.

AUTHOR: Patrick - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 10, 2005

Stephanie,

i agree with John's assessment. It was your fault for not allowing yourself enough time for travel and parking.

A few weeks ago I went to the Montgomery Gentry concert at the Colliseum, which was during the Arizona State Fair. It was at 7PM on a Saturday night. Realizing the day and the fact that it was a free concert for anyone who paid to get into the fair (I won reserved seats off KMLE), my wife and I left in plenty of time to arrive at the fairgrounds and find parking.

The OC Fair does not owe you a refund due to your lack of common sense.

Fair Parking

AUTHOR: Janine - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 10, 2005

Ok this is typical for a fair, especially on a day where there is a concert. Generally people arrive early at the fair to spend the day there then they attend the concert. If you attend right before the concert you will have to park farther away , usually on outside lots. You just have to allow time to do this. I don't think the fair will side with on this issue.

What did you expect?

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 10, 2005

The concert that you were attending is a part of the Fair. Exactly how were you ripped off. You are attending a popular concert at a crowded venue and you only leave to arrive 30 minutes before the concert.

Next time, call ahead to the fair and see if they will reserve you a spot near the entrance since you seem to think that you are so "special".

You weren't ripped off here, the problem was caused by your own stupidity for thinking that you could arrive to a crowded place and find parking close th the entrance.

Next time use a little commom sense. I can't think of any concert venue that will have good parking available that close to a starting time for a concert.

Your lack of sense is not a reason to refund your money....
