Oscar DeArmitt Well Drilling is located in Pennsylvania Furnace, Pennsylvania.  They have been in business for at least 20 years started by old Oscar himself.  My husband and I met the man 15 years ago when we hired him to drill the well for our new home.  He was over-priced back then for the services provided and has apparently gotten greedier with time.

    In February of 2017 my husband and I discovered that our well had gone dry.  Out of loyalty we called Oscar DeArmitt Well Drilling.  Oscar shows up with an employee and a big chip on his shoulder.  He and the sidekick pumped what dribble of water was left in our well for about 15 minutes, than sat in their pickup truck for no less than 30 minutes.  He finally knocked on our door and hands us a bill for $300.00?!  We looked at him in disbelief and said, 'You haven't even told us what the problem is yet?'.  Oscar somehow found our misery amusing and looked at his buddy, laughing and says, 'Oh - your well is definitely dry.  It'll cost ya' $10,000.00 to drill a new well'.  

    My husband and I didn't find the situation too funny.  We couldn't even flush toilets and our farm animals had no water.  No one could take showers or do laundry and to make matters worse it was only 10 degrees outside.  We were panicking and said, 'Well what can we do in the meantime?'.  Oscar replied, 'I don't know what to tell ya.  Haul water jugs'.  And he left.

    We followed up with a 2nd opinion and called one of Oscar's competitiors.  This father-son team showed up, stayed 3 hours and never charged us a dime.  They took the time to tell us exactly what could be done  - all options available to us. 

    We wrote a letter to Oscar asking that he reconsider his extravagant bill because he wasn't even at our house for an hour and had not helped us in any way whatsoever.  Oscar turned around and sent another bill with finance charges added on!  Since then he has sent 5 bills to us, each one increasing in price. We finally sent the money just to be done with him.

    This company is a total SCAM as we are now discovering in talking with other Centre County residents.  Horror stories of his greed, manipulations of scared residents into paying twice as much as what they need to pay are rampant.  WARN everyone to stay away from Oscar DeARmitt and his well-drilling!  There are p lenty of honest well drillers out there that won't drill your bank account too.
