I have a 2006 model vehicle tht just expired its warrenty but is in good working and mechanical order. I also kee records of work recently done on my car.

I went in to Ourisman Jeep for contract service "oil and filter change" work and they tried to scare me into some very expensive unecessary repairs for both brking system and the transmission system.

Fact is that they were not authorized to check either the transmission or brakes. This was an oil change job only where neither the brakes or transmission had anything to do with it. I am sitting in the lobby and the service advisor coes to me with a smirk telling me there "we severe problems with my car and tried to present me with a thousand dollar repair estimate and some scare tactics that this needs to be done now and we cant let you drive your car off of our lots until it is fixed." I got him to explain and he claims the brakes and rotors were bad and the rotors "might have a slim chance to be saved if I'd let themdo the work now". But to his surprise I pulled out a reciept out of my glove box showing I had them replaced only a few months before. If they were bad tey'd still be under a warrenty.

Of course he also tried to sell me on an very expenisve proceedure to change the brake fluid in the car which cost almost 300 dollars! When I know someone just outside the city who could do it for less than 50 dollars. Also after reading that most transmission flushes are unecessary and not really advocated by the manufacturer. I have also read a lot of reports that these supposed "transmission flushes" can actually put your transmission in jepordy after spending a fortune. I could have al that said work done for less than 300 dollars parts and labor with my mechanic buddy I know

I politely informed them they had no authoriztion to remove the tires or to even open up my transmission case. This visit was for an oil change job only. I asked them who authorized the rove? that and they gave me a ration of excuses of it being company policy to rove and detect potential problems. Which is complete BULL. They refused answer my question of who authorized them to remove my tiers off of my car? I don't recall anything on the service ticket or giving any signiture or any vervbal OK for them to "rove" looking for additional problems. They tried to tell me my car was unsafe to drive and I had to leave it there. However I pulled out my reciept of my brake work from few months ago and told him to look it it. Funnyhow their tune changed real quick! Somehow a few minutes after he disappeared they had my car ready to go real fast. Now I suspect some really shady business going on there. Now I will not be surprised if they put sawdust in my transmission. Now I will be leary to ever take my vehicle there again. My friend had a quick look and told me point blank they were trying to rip me off with unecessary repairs.

I watched some other customer get the big shaft on something simple and seem to be noticing a trend with many dealership mechanics and service departments to take advantage of folks. I can only guess since car sales are slow and there is a recession going on. I can only expect they are trying to make up for loss by raping those who take their cars to get serviced. I just want to give fair warning. Ourisman Motors of the Washington DC area is really trying to pull some shady business to make up for lost sales. If you take your car there you may be paying for some costly repirs you really do not need. So Consumer Beware!!
