Paradigm Acceptance Company Could they rip me off even though I didn't talk to them Ripoff Hampton Virginia

I applied for financing at Gateway for a computer, but was turned down. I was given the name of Paradigm Acceptance Co. as alternative financing. Since I hadn't researched them yet, I checked the box to be contacted by Paradigm.

Within hours I received a recorded phone call that I had been accepted by Paradigm for financing and to call their toll-free number. Since I wasn't sure I wanted to do business with them (I figured their interest rate would probably be out the ceiling), I never called the number. Well, I keep getting the recorded phone messages at least 3 times a day! I also received an email on 1/3/2007 telling me I was approved for financing with them.

I just hit reply to the email and told them I wasn't interested in their program at this time and to please stop sending me phone messages. I didn't tell them I had read many negative reports on them at RipOffReports.

But now I'm worried that they could have gotten my social security number from my original application with Gateway and will find a way to get money out of my checking account since I have read so many scary reports of people who didn't even sign the contracts mailed to them by Paradigm, but yet they were able to get money from their accounts.

How is Paradigm able to get money out of people's accounts unless they give them their account numbers? How does this illegally-based company stay in business?

I am so glad I found this website before I called these people. Thank you to everyone who filed a report against Paradigm.
