Let me tell you how my experience of the  Rectangle SunMagnet™ Blue Solar Pool Cover sold by Pool Zone of Garden City, New York disintegrated after two years of use. The product was a 16 gauge cover with a guaranteed life of 5 years (as stated in the current website). The product started to disintegrate in the end of the second year. The small circular bubble portions (top and bottom) started to detach from the plastic sheet cover and disburse into the pool, and into the pool filter.  The remaining plastic perforated sheet became very fragile shortly thereafter (in the third year) and started to rip. The pool cover is worthy of the trash.

I tried to contact Pool Zone by leaving a phone recording (do not bother to call them and leave a phone message, they will not call back). The only other way to contact them is via a web support service ticket. They did reply to this ticket.

My ticket stated:

I purchased a 18'X34' solar pol cover in June 2015 from you.
The cover is falling apart, round piece the size of the bubbles are falling off into the pool.
The cover is falling apart.
The cover itself is fragile and ripping.
This is an awful product - it is 16 gauge - the thickest and poor quality.

I would like my money back

please call me

A Reggie Anderson from Pool Zone replied to the ticket with:

Hello thad,
To learn more about your manufacturer warranty see the link below:

If you click on the link, you will see that you require a copy of the warranty. I may or may not have received the warranty with the delivery of the cover, I do not remember.

However, if you lost your paper copy, the link states that Theresa of Pool Zone will search through their records for a fee. They do not do it for free anymore (I wonder why?).

My conclusion:

1)      The solar pool cover product is poor quality as my cover started to fall apart after 2 years of use.

2)      The current website states that a 16 gauge cover (like the one I have) is backed by a 5 year warranty.

3)      You need to keep a paper copy of your warranty.

4)      If you do not have it, Pool Zone charges a fee to search for it.

5)      This is a barrier to try to get a refund – and it is not worth the effort. I am out $175.95 and will not pursue attempting to get a refund.

6)      The least I can do is let you know of my ordeal, so you will not have to go through it.

7)      I will not purchase any product from Pool Zone again.
