It all started when I first spoke to owner John. For the Preferred Relocation from N.J.

We inventoried all my house hold goods over the phone, I went from room to room with him.. he even repeated it back to me.. he then gave me the price it would cost.. he said many times "this is only a estimation" I should have stopped right there.. but know I figured it can maybe cost us an extra $500 if that much..
Boy were we surprise, when we found it was 3 1/2 times the total..

The scam is here: John tells me he was a broker but is not any more, well he lied.. This John sent me an email of the inventory we did over the phone together.. it was by far so off.. for each item I said grossly under stated. I had 4 full size futons he wrote one small one, I told him I had 3 very large rugs he wrote 2 small ones and it went on and on.. I called him about all the discrepancies and he side " oh don't worry, the driver will call me on that and I will clear it and you'll be ok.." like a fool I believed him.. he was so convening.
The John said that he may drop off some free boxes for me to use,.

He said that I should just pack my glass items, and close. so I did.. never got any boxes from him. I had plenty of boxes anyway.. He assured me that there will be 4 or five guys coming to pack and he himself may come as well,, hah.. well the day came.. two people showed up. John was not one of them..(not a big surprise) The first thing the Driver does is let out one loader from the truck to help him back up the truck well...the driver backs into my mail box.. then claimed he did not do that... "I was right there, I saw you !!!!" "Put it on your claims" that was that.. I took a picture of the bent up mail box door and lose stand with my cell phone..

The driver and a very young man,. the kid told me that the drivers on these trucks go to "job pools" and hire who ever would come and work for cheap. that was ok with me as long as they work. well that one kid did work very hard. mostly by himself. bear in mind that I had a 4 bedroom house 2300 sq home. And a basement..

Well.. they packed up what they could.. they had not planned on having to pack at all.. they were not told they had to from John the owner.. so they took all day packing with my help. I packed as hard as the one guy did.. the driver got the bad room heavy stuff ready to pack. he put all 4 futons up on its side, leaning on the arm.. I figured he knew what he was doing. common sense told me not to let them stand on its arm like that as gravity will make it lean in.. The driver (working for Preferred Location ) said he had done this for 10 years, that he knows what he is doing.. I let it go at that..
The next day came and the Driver said he had called in a few guys to help load the truck.. a small care came full of illegals.. which again is ok with me.. as they work very hard.. but complained about having to load such heavy stuff from the basement, and complained about such heavy stuff.. they were not happy that we owned such a mass amount of Free weights... after the complaining they still expected a tip of 20% of the total.. wow.. know way.. I ordered pizza and drinks that was all I could afford as the driver had said when he came in first thing that this will cost way more then what John had said.. again we still figured maybe another 5-8 hundred max...way off.. I think when they found out the Job was paying for the move that made a difference.. I called John and he could not be found.. we got the bill and could not believe it was 3 and a half times more then what John claimed.. it was apparent to me that the way the scam goes is. Mr. owner John give the inventory list to the highest bidder, he gives them a list of much less then what he and I had agreed I had and much smaller stuff of what I had.. the driver takes the contract thinking its not too much stuff so it should not take up too much room in his giant truck... Then the driver acts as if I lied about what I had and tried to "get by" with adding much more stuff then they had on the contract.. well that was that... The truck left the home with the Goods that FULLed the truck..

I later called John could not get him, got someone else that works for or with John.. I told her that John was the one that put in a totally different inventory then what he and I had done.. she of cause had to defend him.. " well I had never had anyone complain about John under stating the inventory".. again another Lie.. as I now know. I should have done my homework and research the company before making a dissention.. I should have gone with the moving companys that come to the home and do there own inventory...

Well the truck drove across a few states. No problem.. they wanted to receive full payment before they deliver my goods.. the JOB said "no way".. I had to promise to have a bank check here at the new location.. and I did have it. I had to show it to the driver before any unloading.. reasonable I guess..

Again the driver called a loading friend that has a loading company here. He arrived with 3 other guys.. The driver stayed in the Truck sleeping while the 3 guys worked there butts off.. as they worked they complained about having to move heavy stuff into our new basement.. they complained about the weight set.. the guys made sure to let me know that they had not counted on moving so much.. they clearly asked to eat pizza for lunch.. ok but no tip I thought to myself..

They were pretty good at showing me the broken stuff that they had to move into the house.. all the futons were broken.. all had a bent arm from spending all night leaning in it.. I woke the driver up to show him.. he wanted to fix it up.. yea right!!.. two of the futons were beyond repair.. he said he had not done that.. I fought with him for a while then he smiled and walked away.. "put it on the claim" he said to me.. what a nightmare this whole move had been.. I was warned by other movers that told me to beware of people like the Preferred Relocation folks.. We plan to report this to the BBB and fill out a Claims form.. which the driver conveniently did not have with him.. the driver drove off without leaving me a copy of all the paper work I had signed, and the company still to this day has not sent them to me.. but I still have time.. will write up if this gets taken care of with the claims form.. they also broke two of our good quality book shelves.. scratched up the bottom part of the two piece China cabinet leaving the old place... they broke several of compressed wood items that they said they do not guarantee will ship on one peace.. well that's it.. oh they broke a big chandelier.. we still have boxes that we have not opened..

well that is it.. till next time..hope they do not find a way to get out of paying for our broken stuff.. I do have pictures of all the broken stuff.. so do take pictures...
