My mother attempted to purchase a Sony Cyber-shot DSC T-10 camera from this online provider. The camera was advertised as $277.00. The salesman she spoke to to purchase it sold her an accessory package without telling her the price. He informed her these were "items which were absolutely required to use the camera".

These items included a generic memory card reader, and oversized cloth camera case, a rapid car charger, a 512mb memory stick, an extra battery, a warranty, and they tried to claim they had upgraded the battery that came with the camera in the box.

The new price was $779.99 with shipping and handling fees. I went through and individually priced these items (not the warranty), and arrived at only $156. They overcharged the poor woman by something like $300. When I called to discuss this with their sales representative (Eric or some unpronouncible name) he tried going through the items line by line.

Initially, he offered me $100 refund. I told him this was unacceptable. He then tried to offer a free upgrade to the "advanced accessory pack" which included a "fUll sized tripod, a mini tripod, lcd screen protector, a large case to house everything for travel, and a 1 gig memory card".

I told him this too, was unacceptable.

The third and final option presented was to return everything, camera included. They absolutely will not sell the camera individually for the advertised price.

Also, to return everything, we are being subjected to a 15% restocking fee, regardless of the fact that no items besides the camera were opened. On the invoice, it states in very small, very fine print that "all returns are subject to a minimum restocking fee of 5%". So they can arbitrarily assign outrageous fees if they wish.

I also asked the man how he felt that some slick salesperson talked an old woman into buying something without giving her a price. He said that they were in the business to make money, and that they would do anything they could to do it.

These people, in my humble opinion, are souless monsters. I only wish we had come to rip off report and seen some of the other reports listed before ordering from them.
